Abundance Catalyst is a fundraising consulting firm supporting movement organizations advancing racial and environmental justice, economic equity, LGBTQIA+ rights, democracy, immigrant rights, and more. We help nonprofits and advocacy groups build sustainable fundraising programs so they can raise more money, build more power, and win real change. We value alignment with our mission, autonomy in how we work, continuous learning, and a culture of both excellence and care. We believe fundraising can be strategic, values-aligned, technology-forward, and joyful, and we partner with organizations that are building the world we want to live in.
This role is a strong fit for experienced Development Directors, fundraising consultants, and movement fundraisers who want to work across multiple organizations while deepening their strategic fundraising skills.
The Role
This is a high-trust, client-facing role at the core of our work. You will serve as the lead advisor for your client portfolio, with coaching, collaboration, and support from the founder and the broader team. You will lead fundraising engagements with movement organizations, working directly with Executive Directors, Development Directors, and senior leaders to strengthen major donor programs, improve messaging, grow revenue, and build systems that support long-term sustainability.
You'll have significant autonomy in how you lead client engagements, while collaborating regularly with the founder on strategy, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. You will own client relationships, guide strategy, and drive execution. Over time, you will become a key thought partner in shaping how we serve clients, improve our consulting frameworks, and grow the firm. You'll help shape not only our clients' fundraising strategies, but also the future of Abundance Catalyst as we grow.
Clients are typically $1M-$10M organizations with small or no development teams working across democracy, racial justice, immigrant rights, environmental justice, housing, behavioral health, LGBTQIA+ rights, and related movements. Most clients are actively working to strengthen major donor fundraising, foundation revenue, fundraising systems, and leadership capacity.
Typical workload includes approximately 28-32 hours per week of client-facing work, with the remaining time focused on consulting practice development, firm growth, and internal collaboration. Over time, you will become the primary relationship manager and strategic advisor for a portfolio of approximately 4-5 client organizations.
Core Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategy
- Lead weekly client meetings and manage client relationships
- Advise Executive Directors and Development Directors
- Build and guide major donor strategy
- Coach fundraising staff and organizational leaders
- Create donor messaging, donor raps, meeting preparation, and follow-up strategies
- Lead donor research and segmentation using iWave

Consulting Practice Development & Growth
- Learn, apply, and improve Abundance Catalyst frameworks and methodologies
- Contribute to consulting frameworks, tools, SOPs, and internal systems
- Participate in team planning and continuous improvement efforts
- Build relationships within the movement and nonprofit sectors
- Contribute ideas for future services, content, trainings, and business growth
What Success Looks Like
Success means clients are raising more money with more clarity and less stress because of your work. Meetings are focused and productive. Donor pipelines are clear and moving. Messaging is strong and usable. Major donor and grant work happen consistently. Clients trust your judgment and see you as a strategic partner who brings structure, momentum, and follow-through.
During your first year, success will typically include:
- Successfully leading and managing a portfolio of approximately 4-5 client engagements
- Building strong relationships with Executive Directors and fundraising leaders
- Applying and improving Abundance Catalyst fundraising frameworks
- Contributing to internal systems and firm development
- Supporting strong client retention and satisfaction
- Helping clients make measurable progress toward fundraising goals
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years in fundraising leadership, development, or consulting roles
- Experience partnering with Executive Directors, Development Directors, boards, or other senior leaders
- Direct experience leading major donor strategy and donor meetings
- Experience with individual donor fundraising
- Track record of strengthening or building fundraising programs
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills
- Comfort working with small or lean teams
- Experience in social justice, progressive advocacy, movement organizations, or values-aligned nonprofit work
- Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative and accountable
- Comfort learning and using AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and client impact. Experience using AI tools to improve workflows, communications, research, or fundraising work is a plus.
You have owned strategy, not just supported it. You can move comfortably between big-picture planning and day-to-day execution. You bring strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to help clients succeed.
