Our services include public engagement, communications planning, marketing, event planning, media relations, graphic design, video production, and more.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Associate Consultant supports Vector’s clients and consultants by assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of public engagement and communications projects. This position requires exceptional organizational, writing, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as creative problem-solving and proficiency with project management and social media tools. The Associate Consultant assists with social media strategy and implementation, creates flyers and visual materials, and uses tools such as Microsoft Applications, Google and Dropbox Cloud software, Public Input, Sprout Social, and Asana to manage engagement and project activities.

    This role involves a mix of office work, virtual collaboration, and in-person community meetings and events. Occasional evening meetings may be required to support public engagement activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Planning & Implementation

      • Assist project managers and consultants in planning, scoping, and creating project deliverables.
      • Support project execution, including designing and facilitating engagement strategies for public and stakeholder input.
      • Schedule, coordinate, and manage logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.
      • Conduct stakeholder interviews, summarize feedback, and prepare meeting reports.
      • Maintain project databases, track activities in Asana, and support project documentation.
      • Assist with developing, scheduling, and implementing social media strategies using Sprout Social.
      • Design flyers, digital graphics, and community-facing materials for public engagement and outreach efforts.
      • Utilize Public Input and similar tools to document engagement and collect community feedback.

    Client & Community Engagement

      • Support communication and relationship management with clients and community partners.
      • Ensure high-quality interactions and maintain professionalism in all engagements.
      • Participate in meetings, presentations, and outreach activities as needed.

    Writing & Reporting

      • Draft, edit, and review reports, summaries, and communication materials for clarity and accuracy.
      • Prepare meeting notes, stakeholder summaries, and digital engagement reports.
      • Contribute to proposal and marketing content as needed.

    PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Policy, Journalism, Social Work or related field.
    • Two to five years of progressive experience in communications, community engagement, project coordination, consulting, nonprofit, public sector, or related work.
    • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using project management and engagement tools such as Asana, Public Input, and Sprout Social.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Competence in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Creative problem-solving skills and an ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    • Salary range: $55,000-$70,000 depending on experience
    • Involvement in the St. Louis region’s dynamic public affairs ecosystem

    • Paid holiday vacation annually (December 25 through January 1)
