Marj Plumb is a non-profit consultant and trainer who focuses on public policy advocacy and non-profit organizational and leadership development. Living in Omaha, Marj is the Director of the statewide Coalition for a Strong Nebraska which is a group of forty-five service providers, advocacy organizations, foundations, and other nonprofits that are committed to common-sense policy solutions to end poverty. As Director of the Women’s Foundation of California’s Women’s Policy Institute, Marj has trained 500 grassroots women and trans leaders in public policy advocacy. The Institute has a 56% success rate of getting bills onto the Governor’s desk and has worked to pass 29 bills into law.  Prior to starting her consulting practice fifteen years ago, Marj served for over 25 years in senior management positions with a variety of non-profit organizations working on social justice issues, including economic, environmental, and reproductive justice, and fighting for the rights of marginalized peoples, including the LGBT communities and racial/ethnic communities. Marj has a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management (MNA) from the University of San Francisco and a doctorate in public health (DrPH) focused on public policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
