Summary
The Membership Systems Manager serves as the technical and operational lead for The American Association of Tissues Banks (AATB) member-facing platforms, including the Association Management System (AMS), Learning Management System (LMS), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools. This is a cross-functional systems role that requires a high level of technical fluency, critical thinking, and data stewardship. The Manager will oversee day-to-day performance and user access, identify risks, lead configuration and reporting needs, and ensure the integrity and security of membership data across systems. You will work closely with membership, accreditation, and technology vendors owning the systems that power our member experience and internal operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as system administrator for AMS, LMS, and CRM platforms configuring access, managing permissions, and overseeing day-to-day functionality
- Conduct regular audits to identify issues with data syncs, integrations, and platform performance
- Proactively monitor systems for performance issues and lead resolution efforts in partnership with vendors
- Maintain and enforce user access and security protocols in alignment with data protection standards
- Support members and staff with access issues, navigation challenges, and troubleshooting platform errors
- Act as a liaison between end users and technology vendors to translate functional needs into technical solutions
- Deliver systems walkthroughs and internal documentation to ensure consistent and accurate use across departments
- Administer role-based access controls, user authentication settings, and permission hierarchies
- Identify and escalate any potential data security concerns and work with vendors to ensure system patching and vulnerability resolution
- Uphold best practices in data governance, privacy protocols, and audit documentation across platforms
- Design and maintain dynamic dashboards and reports for internal use, executive summaries, and member-facing metrics
- Maintain accurate and accessible system documentation, process flows, and SOPs
- Manage all committee, accreditation, and member rosters, ensuring data accuracy and report automation
- Oversee the performance of third-party vendors and managed service providers for platform support
- Document system needs and use cases, participate in discovery and implementation projects, and manage update/upgrade timelines
- Represent membership system needs in broader organizational discussions around platform optimization and adoption
- Lead small-scale system projects from discovery to implementation, including vendor coordination, documentation, testing, and user communication
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, or equivalent work experience in a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing membership platforms (e.g., AMS, CRM, LMS) in an association, nonprofit, or credentialing environment
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving aptitude and creative thinking
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound discretion
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate between technical requirements and organizational needs across both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to work independently and proactively while collaborating effectively in team settings
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse audiences
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and system manuals
- Exceptional organizational and documentation skills; strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to assess, evaluate, and recommend technology solutions based on strategic fit, usability, and alignment with broader system ecosystems
- Strong vendor coordination and platform evaluation experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage platform-related projects and lead cross-functional implementation timelines
- Deep familiarity with membership databases and how association systems interoperate
- Hands-on experience configuring access controls, troubleshooting platform issues, and ensuring data quality across systems
- Advanced proficiency in managing and optimizing community platforms, learning management systems, and accreditation tools
- Proficiency in the use and administration of Microsoft 365 applications
- Demonstrated understanding of cybersecurity principles in a systems management context, including user access protocols, data protection, and system-level permissions
Work Environment including Physical Demands
- This is a remote position
- Ability to use standards office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, open filing cabinets, bend and stand as necessary
Travel
This position requires 0-10% travel annually.
