    Founded in 1969 as Businessmen for the Public Interest (later renamed Business People and Professionals for the Public Interest) or BPI, Impact for Equity was created to bring together business and civic leaders committed to advancing the public interest and challenging racism, segregation, and inequity in Chicago and Illinois.More than 50 years later, Impact for Equity has grown from a small, upstart public interest law firm into one of Chicago's most respected law and policy centers, driving statewide change across Illinois in pursuit of racial, economic, and social justice. Using a well-practiced combination of legal tools, policy research, advocacy, partnerships, and public awareness, Impact for Equity leads and supports efforts to dismantle systems of injustice and replace them with structures that empower communities. Impact for Equity holds institutions of power accountable for fair and equitable treatment in housing and the criminal legal system.

    The Executive Director is responsible for leading Impact for Equity through a pivotal new chapter. Reporting to a 21-member Board of Directors and leading a passionate team of 18 professionals, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership of this $3 million organization to ensure delivery of high-impact legal and advocacy services while building financial health and even deeper community trust. As the primary leader and public representative of Impact for Equity, the Executive Director will provide leadership in developing and implementing a new strategic plan to address the evolving needs of Impact for Equity and its stakeholders; consistently engage in sophisticated/innovative strategic communications, public advocacy and visibility; and establish and maintain relationships with individual donors, donor organizations, universities, public officials, civic and partner organizations in a manner that promotes the mission and work of Impact for Equity.

    Impact for Equity seeks a dynamic leader who can build on past successes while navigating future challenges. This individual should be a strong communicator, a strategic thinker, and a passionate and eloquent advocate for advancing racial, social, and economic justice in collaboration with staff, board members and the wider community.

    The salary range for this position annually is between $180,000 and $240,000 and will be commensurable with experience. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, a 403(b) plan, and EAP benefits program.
