Job Summary
Senior Consultants contribute to the success of Fairmount Ventures by leading client engagements, managing project teams, ensuring the quality of the team’s work, and contributing to the project deliverables as needed. Reporting to the Vice President, the Senior Consultant plays different roles on project teams and support business development activities for the organization.
This Senior Consultant role requires specific expertise in major gifts or capital campaigns. It’s a full-time position with the Fairmount team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the project work, delegating tasks to project teams, facilitating meetings, and translating client feedback into actionable items.
- Manage all aspects of the client relationship when assigned as the account manager, including team time tracking, invoicing, contract budget management and resource coordination. Manage contract renewals, expansions, and extensions.
- Ensure that all product deliverables meet Fairmount’s quality standards and the client’s expectations.
- Lead strategy on the client/project and provide strategic advice in the moment.
- Lead as facilitator and/or presenter for meetings with clients, their boards, and other stakeholders. Show agility and flexibility as a presenter and be able to improvise strategic advice and respond to on-the-spot questions.
- Manage and oversee all team members assigned to client/projects.
- Generate leads and support new business development activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Possible supervision of Associates, Research Assistants.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 3-5 years direct experience in fundraising, with specific expertise in major gifts or capital campaigns.
- Consulting experience required, with at least five years of consulting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to focus and untangle complex questions and sticky problems.
- Ability to think deeply, ask questions, and challenge assumptions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to create connections between concepts and explain complicated ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Experience with organizational development; organizational design; facilitation.
- Ability to analyze and respond to situations through a lens of social justice and equity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience managing broad-scale projects and processes and overseeing and mentoring others.
- Ability to translate abstract concepts into cogent written products.
Location
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Center City Philadelphia with a minimum of two days per week in the office, one of which must be Thursday.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is up to $90,000-$105,000 based on candidates’ qualification, experience, skills, and education. Fairmount offers a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, personal, and sick leave; medical and dental coverage; and a 401k retirement plan after one year of service.
