    Fractional Executive Director

    ABOUT TEAM Dayā

Team Dayā (Dayā means kindness in Nepali) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to combating poverty and illiteracy by funding and building primary schools in the developing world.

Founded in 2018 by leaders in the advertising and technology industries, the organization funded its first primary school in 2019 in the Western Terai of Nepal. As of today, Team Dayā has constructed eleven primary schools across five countries and is on track to fund its 12th, 13th, and 14th schools in 2026.

The organization has raised over $1,000,000 from 1,500+ donors, driven primarily by peers across the advertising and tech sectors—including CEOs, founders, and top industry executives. To date, the core fundraising model has been peer-to-peer fundraising: individuals join Team Dayā by committing to raise $10,000 toward school construction costs in exchange for the opportunity to travel to a future school groundbreaking (all travel is self-funded by participants).

As we enter our next phase of growth, we aim to both scale fundraising by adding major gifts and build a data-driven insights practice to help Team Dayā and others measure the long-term impact of school-building efforts in the developing world.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

Given the growth of the organization, Team Dayā is at a pivotal time, seeking a highly proactive, hands-on Fractional Executive Director (ED) to guide our next chapter. It is critical that the ED be committed to our mission driven work impacting equity, literacy, and global opportunity.

The Executive Director will be the organization’s first paid hire, serving as a strategic and operational partner to the founders and reporting directly to our CEO and Founder. This is a part-time, contract-based role ideal for a senior nonprofit, fundraising, or mission-driven leader with deep experience in major gifts.

The right candidate is entrepreneurial, tech-savvy, and comfortable with the ambiguity, often present in lean, scrappy, high impact organizations. They are action-oriented and willing to create strategy, while still doing the small tasks required for the organization to move forward. They excel at opening doors to high-net-worth individuals, building repeatable fundraising systems, and helping pilot a data insights program that demonstrates impact.

Team Dayā’s fundraising model is targeted, relationship-driven, and focused on high-value individuals. Event planning and grant writing are not current priorities.

This role is remote, with occasional travel for donor meetings and school groundbreakings.

    CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Major Gift Strategy & Execution

    • Design and lead a new major gifts program targeting CEOs, founders, senior executives, and influential leaders across advertising, marketing, media, and tech.
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-potential individual donors capable of gifts at the $50k–$500k–$1M+ level.
    • Build tailored cultivation strategies for high-net-worth individuals aligned with Team Dayā’s hands-on, peer-driven ethos.
    • Develop messaging frameworks, pitch materials, donor journeys, and stewardship touchpoints.

    Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Optimization

    • Strengthen and expand the existing team-based $10,000 fundraising model.
    • Increase the number and caliber of participants in each fundraising cycle.
    • Create tools, templates, and support systems that help participants raise more, faster, and with greater confidence.
    • Help source new team members from existing donor circles and from the ad tech leadership network and beyond.

    Marketing, Technology & Donor Systems

    • Serve as a hands-on operator across Team Dayā’s digital infrastructure:
    • Online fundraising platform
    • CRM/donor database
    • Email marketing system
    • Website content updates and messaging
    • Partner with founders on digital campaigns, social media storytelling, and donor-facing communications.
    • Build scalable processes for donor tracking, pipeline management, and reporting.

    Data Insights, Measurement & Evaluation

    • Work with Team Dayā leadership to develop a data collection and impact measurement framework across school build sites.
    • Identify what data should be gathered before, during, and after construction to evaluate community outcomes.
    • Help assess—and prove or disprove—the feasibility of a long-term data insights practice that can strengthen future fundraising for Team Dayā and its partners.
    • Translate data into narratives and materials that communicate measurable impact to donors.

    CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    • 10+ years senior experience in nonprofit leadership, major gifts fundraising, or philanthropic strategy.
    • Demonstrated success securing significant major gifts from high-net-worth individuals.
    • Hands-on experience with donor CRMs, online fundraising tools, and digital communications.
    • Strong strategic planning, project management, and operational skills.
    • Clear, compelling communicator with excellent writing ability.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable creating new systems from scratch.

    Preferred

    • Deep familiarity with the advertising, marketing, media or technology sectors – or proven ability to build relationships in these communities.
    • Experience developing or managing measurement and evaluation programs or impact reporting.
    • A track record in peer-to-peer or community-driven fundraising models.
    • Previous experience in a startup-like or founder-driven organization.
    • Global development or education-related nonprofit experience (not required).

    Key Traits & Cultural Fit

    • Mission-driven and aligned with Team Dayā’s commitment to Building Change.
    • Action-oriented and able to “do the work”—no task too small.
    • Comfortable with a lean, scrappy, high-impact organization. This role will be the only paid role.
    • Self-directed and capable of operating at both strategic and tactical levels.
    • Intrinsically motivated by real-world outcomes, not gala circuits.
