    Who We Are

    Children’s Center is a private, non-profit child advocacy center accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. Children are referred to us by law enforcement agencies, child protective workers, parents, teachers, health care providers, and others concerned for their welfare. Our mission is to work with the community to end child abuse and neglect through assessment, treatment, and prevention. Our vision is to build a world where all children feel safe, valued, and heard.

    The Role

    The Medical Team Director oversees a team of medical providers in addition to providing medical evaluations of children suspected of being victims of abuse or neglect. Child Abuse Medical Providers also provide education to the community regarding child maltreatment and well-being. This position utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to the evaluation of suspected child abuse, working in partnership with forensic interviewers, family support specialists, and community partners such as law enforcement and child protective services.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    Provider Supervisor Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct supervision and annual evaluations of medical providers.
    • Provides input regarding medical provider budget, staffing, and duties.
    • Assists in the recruitment, hiring and training of medical providers.
    • Coordinates initial and ongoing clinical training for medical providers.
    • Participates in team meetings, quality assurance reviews, peer reviews, and case consultations.
    • Participates in leadership and director meetings at the Clinic.
    • Promotes professional development of medical providers via ongoing learning, quality assurance, peer review, and educational activities/opportunities.
    • Participates in Multidisciplinary (MDT) meetings.
    • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with community partners and team members at all levels of the organization.
    • Provides support and problem solving for scheduling assessments, complex cases and complex dynamics.
    • Works with Interviewer Supervisor and Family Support Supervisor to manage overall clinic schedule.
    • Assists leadership and director teams in developing protocols, policies, procedures, and other relevant documents.
    • Supports fundraising and outreach activities in conjunction with the other directors.

    Provider responsibilities:

    • Maintains professionalism and expertise in child abuse issues, general pediatric issues, and medical evaluation standards by receiving related continuing education and staying abreast of current research.
    • Performs sensitive and thorough medical examinations of children for whom there are concerns of child abuse and/or neglect, including colposcopy and team participation during child interviews.
    • Gathers comprehensive social and medical history from parent and/or patients and review other relevant case information.
    • Assesses general pediatric problems, physical findings, and development; coordinates medical follow-up.
    • Provides periodic after-hours on-call phone consultation on a rotating schedule.
    • Completes all required documentation and reports in a timely manner, ensuring the product is well-organized and professionally written.
    • Reviews medical records and/or provide medical consultation as requested by community partners.
    • Testifies in court, as necessary.
    • Operates in a trauma-informed manner.
    • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

    What We Require:

    • Professional degree (MD, DO, NP).
    • Licensed in the State of Oregon or eligible for licensure in Oregon.
    • Knowledge of child abuse dynamics.
    • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
    • Experienced at helping clients and solving problems.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate in English effectively, including clarity of thought, and grammar, both verbally and in writing.
    • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    What We Prefer:

    • Prior experience as a supervisor preferred.

    Additional Information:

    Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. Depending on the selected candidate's credentials, this role may be filled by a Medical Doctor/Doctor of Osteopath (32 hrs/week) or a Nurse Practitioner (32-40 hrs/week).

    We are a facility-dog friendly workplace and anticipate having a working facility dog in the center on a daily basis within the next year.

Wage: Medical Doctor/Doctor of Osteopath: $100 to $112 hour, Nurse Practitioner: $71 to $74 hour, DOE.
