    Ada Developers Academy (Ada) is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school. Our mission is to prepare women and gender expansive adults to be software developers while advocating for inclusive and equitable work environments. We primarily serve and address the needs of Black, Latine, Indigenous Americans, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+, and low-income people. Our tuition-free training program includes a collaborative learning environment, individualized support, and an applied learning internship.

    About this position

    In collaboration with the Development Team, the Grants & Development Manager will oversee a robust foundation grants pipeline and support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts. They will also oversee both new and existing annual fundraising campaigns across individual, corporate, and institutional channels.

    A successful candidate will excel in conducting research on grant writing trends, funding opportunities, and donor demographics and giving patterns to inform strategies. They will possess strong writing and relationship-building skills and be a confident, clear communicator. This mission-aligned professional will thrive in a fast-paced, equity-centered environment. This role demands a proactive mindset, emphasizing problem-solving and information-gathering skills. The ideal candidate will excel at working independently while seamlessly collaborating as part of a team.

    This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position with an annual salary range of $75,000 to $90,000 (DOQ) and excellent benefits. For eligible positions, remote work schedules are made available to employees working within certain states, currently limited to: Washington, Oregon, Georgia, Massachusetts, Texas, DC, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Occasional travel to industry conferences and events, in-person donor meetings, and community engagement opportunities is required.

    Core responsibilities

    Grants Management

    • Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals and LOIs to private foundations, corporate funders, and government agencies.
    • Track and manage all grant deadlines, deliverables, and reporting in collaboration with program and finance teams.
    • Maintain an organized grant pipeline and calendar; prepare internal briefing materials for funder meetings.
    • Collaborate with Student Affairs and Corporate Partnerships teams to gather outcomes, impact metrics, and student stories to support proposals and reports.
    • Prepare timely and accurate narrative and financial reports for active grants.
    • Stay current on funder priorities, social impact trends, and education/workforce development funding landscapes.

    Development & Fundraising

    • Build and maintain ongoing communication with current and prospective annual fund donors, including alumni and other community members, fostering an understanding of their interests and philanthropic goals.
    • Support donor engagement strategies, including gift acknowledgments, donor communications, and campaign fundraising.
    • Partner with the Senior Director of Philanthropy to support major gifts outreach through research, prospect briefings, and personalized communications.
    • Collaborate on the design and execution of multi-channel campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday, End-of-Year, Alumni Giving).
    • Assist in managing corporate workplace giving and ERG engagement initiatives in partnership with the Director of Corporate & Workplace Giving.
    • Maintain ongoing channels and systems of communication and collaboration between Development and the organization-wide teams to ensure the support of philanthropic relationships with all donor constituencies (e.g., individual, corporate, foundation, alumni).

    Donor Database Management & Gift Processing

    • Maintain grant tracking in the CRM (Salesforce), ensuring data integrity and timely follow-up.
    • Process monthly gift reports on all constituents, as well as donations and corporate matches, ensuring all gifts are promptly and accurately entered into the database.
    • Cross-reference all donations received from financial institutions (Benevity), ensuring disbursement information is in alignment and recorded into our database on a timely basis.

    Essential qualifications

    • Enthusiastic support of Ada’s mission and demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values
    • 5+ years of fundraising and development experience, including demonstrated success in managing comprehensive foundation grants portfolio, annual campaigns, and donor relationships
    • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
    • Full fluency with Salesforce CRM & and email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp)
    • Proven track record of successful grant writing (at least $250K+ raised through authored proposals)
    • Strong collaboration, written and verbal communication skills, and sharp analytical abilities
    • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines, manage timelines, and deliverables

    Preferred qualifications

    • Experience with government grant applications and reporting (e.g., Department of Labor, NSF)
    • Familiarity with supporting corporate and workplace giving programs
    • Basic comfort interpreting nonprofit budgets and financial reports
    • Background in workforce development, education, or tech-adjacent nonprofits
