    Teaching Faculty Position in Instructional French, Open Rank Georgetown University: Main Campus: Walsh School of Foreign Service: Georgetown University in Qatar Location: Qatar Open Date: Aug 30, 2026 Deadline: Oct 01, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) invites applications for one (1) open-rank teaching faculty position in Instructional French.The successful candidate will have native or near-native proficiency in French, an advanced command of English, and an M.A. or Ph.D. in applied linguistics, FLE (Teaching French as a Foreign Language), SLA (Second Language Acquisition), or a related field, with expertise in French language and linguistics, as well as pedagogy. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching French at all levels. They will also have a record of effective instruction in skill-based courses (e.g., Academic Writing) and in leading co-curricular and experiential learning activities that support French language development. Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its proficiency benchmarks would be an advantage. Teaching Faculty teach three courses (or 9 credit hours) per semester (a 3-3 load), supported by best-in-class instructional infrastructure. This includes the Global Classroom, which connects students in Doha with peers in Washington, D.C., for live, cross-campus engagement, and access to collaborative research centers such as the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS).To advance faculty scholarship and professional development, GU-Q provides:

    • Eligibility to apply for a summer research supplement equivalent to 2/9 of base salary.
