The Choice is partnering with an environmental advocacy nonprofit to recruit a part-time Development Operations Coordinator to support its philanthropy team through the end of the year.
This is a great opportunity for someone with nonprofit development, fundraising operations, or donor database experience who is looking for a part-time schedule. The position will focus primarily on Salesforce database management, gift processing, donor acknowledgements, and coordination with the finance team.
The organization has a primarily remote staff, but this position will work approximately three days per week and will need to be in the organization's downtown Washington, DC office 1-2 days per week to support donation and mail processing. The remaining work can be completed remotely.
The position is expected to begin as soon as possible and continue through December 23, 2026, with the possibility of an extension into January.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming donations and accurately enter gift and donor information into Salesforce
- Maintain accurate donor records through regular data entry, deduplication, updates, and database cleanup
- Prepare donor mailing lists and other Salesforce segments
- Prepare weekly donor acknowledgement letters and mail merges
- Coordinate with the Finance team on gift reconciliation, donor restrictions, and accurate financial records
- Assist with reconciliation between Salesforce and QuickBooks
- Process and scan incoming mail and coordinate bank deposits
- Support state charitable registration requirements and coordinate with an outside compliance vendor
- Assist with donor questions and provide responsive customer service
- Help coordinate projects and requests with the organization's external Salesforce consultant
- Support Salesforce reports, dashboards, and other database projects depending on experience
- Assist the Philanthropy Director and team with additional development operations and administrative projects as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, advancement, donor services, or a related area
- Hands-on experience using Salesforce or a similar fundraising CRM; Salesforce experience strongly preferred
- Experience with donor/gift processing and maintaining accurate database records
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with financial and donor information
- Ability to work independently and manage recurring responsibilities with minimal oversight
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working collaboratively with development and finance teams
- Ability to commute to downtown Washington, DC 1–2 days per week
Experience with Salesforce NPSP, QuickBooks, Engaging Networks, Apsona, donor acknowledgements/mail merges, charitable registrations, reporting, or dashboards is helpful but not required.
