Position Summary
The Marketplace Lending Manager is a critical role responsible for ensuring that all loans that are credit approved are matched up with an appropriate lender in the B Generous marketplace.
Specifically, this role will manage each loan transaction once the B Generous underwriting team has credit-approved a loan and the borrower has signed their term sheet.
At this stage, the Marketplace Lending Manager is responsible for posting the deal live into the B Generous lending marketplace and overseeing each borrower application to ensure it is matched with an appropriate marketplace lender in a timely manner.
From there, the Marketplace Lending Manager will project manage the loan and the relationship between the borrower and lender to ensure that the loan is being completed through an efficient and frictionless process.
This role is the primary interface with lending partners in the B Generous marketplace (e.g. banks, credit unions, private credit funds, CDFIs etc), and you will be responsible for packaging and posting loan opportunities in the marketplace, managing lender due diligence and overseeing communications between the lenders and borrowers, driving deals to close, and ensuring a seamless origination experience for the borrowers.
Key Responsibilities
Marketplace Posting & Loan Packaging
- Receive completed, credit-approved loan packages from the credit team and prepare them for marketplace posting and/or direct lender submission
- Post loans into the B Generous marketplace with accurate deal summaries, credit highlights, key financial metrics, and supporting documentation, which will be provided to you by the B Generous credit team
- Ensure marketplace listings are complete, uniform, and consistent with B Generous’ standards and formatting requirements
- Directly manage the routing of deals to appropriate lending partners based on lender appetite, credit box alignment, loan size, lender location, and product type. This is the most critical aspect of this role, you will be directly responsible for matching the borrowers with the lenders and managing that relationship until the closing of the loan. You will be a matchmaker between borrowers and lenders in the marketplace
- Maintain an organized library of deal packages and supporting materials for quick retrieval and lender reference
Lender Relationship Management & Communication
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact and primary liaison between B Generous and its network of marketplace lending partners
- Proactively communicate with lenders to drive interest in posted marketplace deals, answer preliminary questions, and facilitate introductions to loan opportunities
- Manage new inbound lender inquiries to join the marketplace and conduct due diligence on new lenders as well as manage the approval process for new lenders joining the marketplace
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with lender contacts to support repeat deal flow and platform engagement
- Track lender requests, preferences, feedback, and credit appetite to improve deal-lender matching over time
Deal Progression & Term Sheet Follow-Up
- Actively follow up with marketplace lenders once deals are posted or submitted in order to drive timely loan approvals
- Track lender response timelines, escalate delays, and maintain a structured cadence of follow-ups to keep deals progressing between borrowers and lenders
- Help coordinate the flow of information and documentation from lenders back to borrowers as appropriate
- Help negotiate or clarify lender terms in coordination with the B Generous originations and credit team before presenting offers to borrowers
- Manage competitive bidding dynamics when multiple lenders express interest in the same deal
Closing & Loan Origination Coordination
- Help coordinate the closing process between lenders, borrowers, and any external counsel or third parties involved in the transaction as needed
- Track and manage all closing conditions, deliverables, and documentation requirements across counterparties
- Confirm closing and fund disbursement with all parties and organize and archive completed loan files for each closed transaction, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Post-Closing & Operational Handoff
- Support post-closing activities including initial billing setup for B Generous, lender reporting requirements, and servicing onboarding
- Communicate final closing details and loan terms to relevant internal teams for portfolio tracking, reporting and accurate billing
- Identify and escalate any post-closing issues or discrepancies to leadership for resolution
Pipeline Reporting & Marketplace Analytics
- Manage the post-term-sheet loan pipeline in the company’s CRM (Salesforce) and/or loan origination system (Decipher), maintaining real-time status updates on all marketplace-stage and closing-stage transactions
- Track and report on marketplace metrics including deal posting volume, lender volume and lender engagement rates, time-to-close, and funding conversion rates
- Provide regular updates to B Generous leadership on marketplace deal flow, lender activity, and pipeline health and track all marketplace KPIs and report to senior management on a weekly basis
- Identify process bottlenecks and recommend operational improvements to accelerate time-to-close
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in banking with a focus on commercial lending commercial loan underwriting and/or commercial loan operations, or a directly related role within lending, FinTech, or financial services
- Strong understanding of commercial loan closing processes, commercial loan underwriting and commercial loan documentation requirements
- Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent transactions across various counterparties
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including direct experience and a history of success interfacing with senior bankers, senior financial services executives, nonprofit CFOs and CEOs, as well as private fund managers, and senior credit professionals
- Must have the ability to “speak bank” with senior bankers, Chief Credit Officers, Senior Commercial Lenders and even bank CEOs
- Experience working with, and communicating and interfacing with, community banks, and/or smaller regional banks (balance sheet $100M – $20B)
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), loan origination software, and standard productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, Asana)
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where you will juggle multiple hats and responsibilities
- Proactive and accountable. This is key, This role requires exceptional initiative, strong follow-through, and comfort operating independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with private credit funds, institutional commercial lending platforms (e.g. Lendio, Fundwell etc), or loan syndication/participation structures
- Experience in nonprofit operations and/or nonprofit finance, community development finance (CDFIs), commercial lending, or mission-driven financial services
- Knowledge of revenue-based financing, alternative lending structures, or marketplace lending operations
- Experience in lender relationship management, capital markets operations, or loan trading/secondary market activities
