Survey outreach field staff - Palo Alto, California

Altrans TMA is hiring temporary field staff to collect commute mode usage data through in-person intercept surveys - on the street, in businesses, and in restaurants. You will approach people directly, explain the survey briefly, and record responses accurately.

$50/hr

Requirements

• Able to stay active and mobile throughout hours-long shifts, mostly standing and walking outdoors
• Comfortable approaching strangers in public and starting a short conversation
• Clear, courteous communication and a professional presence representing Altrans
• Careful and accurate when recording responses
• Reliable availability for 12 hours per week, Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, October 2
• Access to email for scheduling and daily check-ins

Tasks

• Conduct in-person intercept surveys on the street, in businesses, and in restaurants
• Explain the purpose of the commute mode usage survey to prospective respondents
• Record survey responses accurately and submit completed forms daily
• Follow up by email with contacts who prefer to respond later
• Track outreach locations, counts, and response rates for each shift
• Report progress and field conditions to the Executive Director
