Seeking Motivated Science Teacher

Who We Are
Harkness Institute is not your typical high school. We're a bicultural, bilingual preparatory school where education happens around discussion tables, not lecture halls. Founded on the belief that Mexico's education can and should be exceptional, we've built something different—a place where motivated students and passionate educators come together to explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and prepare the next generation of thoughtful leaders.
We use the Harkness method, a collaborative discussion-based approach where learning flows from student to student. Our classes max out at 14 students, creating an intimate environment where every voice matters and every perspective enriches the conversation. This isn't a place where the teacher commands from the front of the room—here, teachers facilitate, guide, and learn alongside their students.
Our mission is simple but ambitious: Provide extraordinary educational opportunities for Mexico's future leaders, empowering them to think and act critically and creatively to generate positive change in their communities and the world.
We believe in education as a force for social good, in academic rigor paired with genuine support, and in the power of diverse perspectives to deepen understanding. Over 40% of our students receive need-based scholarships because we're convinced that talent and potential shouldn't be limited by financial circumstances.
Who We Are Looking for
You're not looking for just any teaching job. You're looking for a mission.
You believe education can transform society. You see teaching not as delivering information, but as igniting curiosity, fostering critical thinking, and developing young minds who will tackle tomorrow's challenges. You're energized by intelligent debate and value differences of opinion—you understand that disagreement, when respectful and thoughtful, is where real learning happens.
You're entrepreneurial and take initiative. You don't wait to be told what to do; you see what needs to happen and make it happen. You're comfortable with ambiguity and excited by the opportunity to shape your curriculum and approach. You're adaptable—ready to embrace a teaching method that might be radically different from what you've experienced, one where you're a guide and facilitator rather than the sage on the stage.
You're intellectually curious and love your subject. Whether it's the elegance of chemical reactions, the complexity of living systems, or the interconnectedness of environmental science, your enthusiasm is genuine and contagious. You want students to fall in love with science the way you have.
You thrive in collaborative environments. You enjoy exchanging ideas with colleagues, learning from students, and being part of a community committed to excellence. You're humble enough to recognize that great teaching requires continuous learning.

You'll teach science courses in English to students who are preparing for world-class universities. Depending on your expertise, you may teach chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a combination—we're looking for depth and breadth in the natural sciences. You'll have the autonomy to design engaging curricula, develop hands-on laboratory experiences, and create field activities that bring scientific concepts to life.
Most importantly, you'll help shape young people who see science not just as a subject to master, but as a way of thinking about and improving the world.
