The Opportunity: Paid Intern-to-Hire Program
This position is designed as a clear path to a stable, long-term management career, reflecting our commitment to staff longevity. It begins as a paid, 3-month internship with a direct, full-time offer for an Assistant Center Manager role upon successful completion. You will be fully immersed in all facets of center operation in Burlingame, serving the whole San Francisco Bay Area. We are planning to expand to Los Angeles and other metropolitan areas.
This role is focused on the management of processes, clients, and customers, as well as collaboration with internal peers; it is not a people management position.
Core Responsibilities: Driving Mission and Operations
The successful Intern-to-Hire will be a vital part of our mission, focusing on three critical pillars:
- Customer Experience & Education:
- Serve as the primary brand ambassador/account manager, managing the drop-off individual customers and coordinate business recycling pickup,
- Ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
- Educate individual and business customers on the necessity and value of responsible electronics recycling to stop global e-waste dumping
- Professionally and effectively resolve customer inquiries and concerns in writing, in converation, and over email and chats.
- Logistics & Operational Excellence:
- Prepare and manage electronic goods for secure shipment to our certified partner recyclers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records, tracking key data using our GreenCitizen Total Accountability Management System, GTAMS, for all recycled items.
- Contribute proactively to enhancing the retail environment and optimizing the recycling process.
- Growth & Outreach:
- Support local community marketing and outreach campaigns to expand our local footprint and drive center traffic.
Qualifications for Success:

- Entrepreneurial Drive: A proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve creatively, and consistently exceed expectations.
- Organizational Mastery: Highly reliable, detail-oriented, and skilled in effective multitasking and activity prioritization.
- Physical Requirement: Must be in good physical condition with the ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
- Education: Strong academic performance is required with a strong GPA. A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an environmental or business-related major, is a significant plus.
