    We act as an extension of our client teams — we handle all the responsibilities a traditional internal IT team would. We’re in our clients’ Slacks, we’re on a first-name basis with them (and their pets), we’re new hires’ first point of contact, and we’re the first stop for tech and cybersecurity issues. We aim to build trust, and we leverage this to keep the bad actors out.

    As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a strategic, people-centered HR Manager to strengthen the systems, programs, and relationships that help our team thrive.

    About the Role

    The HR Manager will lead and support the full range of people operations and HR work at Personified — from hands-on employee support and HR systems to performance management, learning initiatives, and internal culture. You’ll be a key resource for staff and a trusted thought partner to leadership, helping us build the infrastructure and programs that support a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing remote team.

    We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in HR and people operations, who cares deeply about people and is eager to manage, lead, and develop strategies that ensure employees are supported and empowered to do their best work. This role is ideal for someone who is excited to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment, someone who enjoys building structure, solving challenges, and supporting both individuals and teams through growth and change.

    Responsibilities Overview:

    Employee Experience, Relations, and Culture

    • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees, offering clear, compassionate support on HR policies, questions, and concerns.
    • Lead and facilitate core people-facing processes that foster a positive and inclusive employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle, including onboarding, transitions, and offboarding.
    • Build and maintain tools, resources, and feedback mechanisms (like surveys and exit interviews) that strengthen team connection and surface opportunities for improvement.
    • Partner with leadership to design, support, and implement engagement strategies, culture initiatives, and internal communications that reinforce values and build alignment across our remote, distributed team.
    • Support a healthy, connected workplace by proactively addressing interpersonal dynamics and employee needs with empathy, discretion, and a focus on solutions that reflect Personified values.

    People Operations

    • Lead and manage key employee programs and processes, including onboarding, offboarding, hiring, performance management, and culture-building initiatives.
    • Support the design and implementation of people policies, programs, and processes that help staff feel valued and supported and allow them to succeed, grow, and contribute meaningfully as Personified team members.
    • Facilitate recurring team check-ins to align on priorities, share updates, and foster collaboration.
    • Develop, maintain, and update internal documentation and resources to ensure clarity, consistent implementation, and access for all staff.
    • Lead the annual performance review process, including gathering feedback, helping draft evaluations, and ensuring timely completion of reviews across the team.
    • Maintain and deliver reports related to team performance, productivity, and staffing metrics to support leadership decision-making.

    HR Administration and Compliance

    • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and documentation, maintaining accurate, confidential employee data across all systems.
    • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
    • Track and support compliance requirements across HR, finance, and legal functions, including audits, policy acknowledgments, and labor law postings.
    • Help coordinate and communicate policy and benefits updates to support employee understanding and adoption.
    • Support payroll processing and other administrative functions that ensure the smooth, accurate, and consistent implementation of policies and benefits.

    Leadership, Collaboration, and Organizational Improvement

    • Collaborate across departments to align workflows, address shared challenges, and ensure people operations are integrated with broader organizational goals.
    • Lead the rollout of new tools, processes, and policies by planning implementation, communicating clearly, and supporting staff through transitions.
    • Help identify and implement improvements to HR systems, tools, and workflows that make people processes more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly.
    • Collaborate with leaders and staff across departments to support change management efforts and ensure a positive experience during periods of growth or transition.

    Qualifications

    Experience/Traits necessary to succeed in this role at Personified:

    • 4–6 years of experience in HR or people operations, ideally in a growing or mission-driven org.
    • Demonstrated ability to independently manage people, programs, processes, and initiatives
    • Experience serving as a thought partner to leadership, with a track record of collaborating on, developing, and implementing people programs and practices that strengthen employee experience, engagement, and success.
    • Proven experience managing employee relations, building trust, and navigating challenging or tense situations with care and professionalism.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that promote clarity and alignment.
    • Proactive, systems-minded, and able to operate in ambiguity with calm and care.
    • Familiarity with HR platforms (e.g., Gusto, Justworks, Rippling) and a knack for documentation and process design.
