Established in 2007, Esoko has been exploring how technology innovations around mobile can help rural communities. Originally focussed on delivering market prices via SMS, the range of services has grown to include agricultural tips, weather forecasts, farmer call centres, e-wallet savings programs for inputs (Tulaa) and tablet-based surveying for social protection programs (Insyt). Esoko has operated in over 20 African countries, has offices in Kenya and Nairobi, is mostly a tech organization with a strong product and engineering DNA, but is committed to growing rural businesses and wealth through improved services for local merchants, buyers and sellers.
