Founded in 2008, GebRaa is a social enterprise aiming at revitalizing Egyptian traditional crafts that have been at risk of disappearance for the last decades, threatening traditional Egyptian culture and identity and the activity of marginalized and rural communities in Egypt.
More specifically, GebRaa is an export and supply company that works on two main aspects:
We work with over 30 shops, galleries and hotels, as well as international organizations, and with more than 3000 marginalized artisans, including 70% of women.
GebRaa is a 2011 winner of SEED initiative (UNDP, UNEP and IUCN), a 2013 winner of World Bank Development Marketplace award and a 2016 winner of Pioneers of Egypt award by Synergos and 2020 winner of MEDUP by the EU. GebRaa is featured at local and international media outlets such as Forbes, CNN, Google, World bank and many others.
Founded in 2016, Karama Foundation for Social and Cultural Development is its developmental arm that supports the delivery of social support to artisans aiming to create a new generation of artisans through knowledge transfer.
