    Descrição

    In the role of Chief Board Counsel, the Attorney Supervisor serves as the Board’s leading subject matter expert on legal issues facing the Board. The incumbent serves as the Board Counsel to the Chair and as the supervisor of administrative professionals and attorneys. The incumbent will serve as the lead legal advisor on Board case matters, as well as State of California (State) and Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB) policy as needed. The Chief Board Counsel serves as the Board’s primary liaison with the legal staff of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, the Governor’s Office and the California Department of Justice. The incumbent shall also have primary responsibility for the review and oversight of proposed legislation impacting the ALRB. The Chief Board Counsel also manages and leads development of rulemaking packages promulgated by the Board. The incumbent develops strategy and tactics in the most complex disputes or litigation; and may personally perform the most difficult and complex hearings, legal research, and opinion drafting for the ALRB.

    Working Conditions

    Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, upon a job offer, candidates must provide proof of residence in California prior to their appointment becoming effective, or the offer may be rescinded.

    ALRB offers a hybrid work schedule to its employees. All ALRB employees are required to work a minimum of two days a week in the office or in the field. This hybrid schedule is subject to change as needed, such as in the event of modified State of California directives, collective bargaining agreements, and/or based on operational needs. For an employee to be eligible to telework, an approved telework agreement must be on file with ALRB.

    Special Requirements

    • State Bar of California This position requires an active membership in the State Bar of California (State Bar). The incumbent is required to provide their State Bar number prior to being hired.
    • Conflict of Interest (COI) This position is subject to COI Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1st, and within 30 days of leaving office.
    • Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program The incumbent shall participate in DMV’s EPN Program, which is a process for providing the ALRB with a report showing the driver’s current public record as recorded by the DMV, and any subsequent convictions, failures to appear, accidents, driver’s license suspensions, driver’s license revocations, or any other actions taken against the driving privilege or license, added to the driver’s DMV record.
    • Travel The incumbent is required to travel within the State of California by various methods of transportation.
