    DIVISON CHIEF

    CRIMINAL BUREAU

    WHITE COLLAR & PUBLIC INTEGRITY DIVISION

    The Attorney General’s Office is looking for a highly motivated individual of integrity and commitment to public service to serve as Chief of the White Collar & Public Integrity Division of the Criminal Bureau. This Assistant Attorney General will be responsible for handling a broad range of criminal cases, spanning financial crime, public corruption, and insurance fraud. Financial crime includes fiduciary embezzlement by professionals, complex financial frauds, and tax fraud schemes. Public corruption includes a broad array of schemes involving public officials, public institutions, and public funds.Insurance fraud includes workers’ compensation fraud, unemployment tax and compensation fraud, motor vehicle insurance fraud, arson, false injury, and property loss claims. The Criminal Bureau is staffed by a group of experienced prosecutors who partner with financial investigators, Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Attorney General’s Office, and local, state, and federal investigative and enforcement agencies.

    Primary Duties:The White Collar & Public Integrity Chief is responsible for the management of the Division’s assistant attorneys general, investigators, and support staff. The Division Chief’s supervisory responsibilities include managing the investigation and prosecution of cases in the Division and serving as a mentor to the staff. The Division Chief evaluates and assigns criminal intakes; reviews and edits a significant volume of legal writing of the assistant attorneys general; oversees case management; manages and facilitates interagency relationships and fiscal agreements; provides written review of all staff and ongoing feedback; and assists with allocation of budget and resources. The Division Chief handles a case load and is responsible for indicting and trying his/her own cases. The Division Chief reports directly to the Chief of the Criminal Bureau.

    Position Requirements:

    • Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or be eligible for admission in short order.
    • At least seven years of full-time legal experience, including significant experience as a prosecutor or defense attorney, preferably in white collar or other complex criminal litigation desired.
    • Prior management and/or supervision experience required.
    • Significant trial experience and grand jury experience required.
    • Demonstrated motivation to serve the public interest.
    • Ability and desire to handle multiple complex and challenging priority matters simultaneously.
    • Effective written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent legal writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to develop and strengthen the written work of the Division.
    • Outstanding judgment, decision making and strategic thinking skills.
    • A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required, as travel is necessary to various courts.

    Applicants must be active members in good standing of the Massachusetts Bar at the time of application.

    Location: The Assistant Attorney General hired for this position will be based out of our Boston Office. Our hybrid model may include some remote workdays for the successful candidate. For the first six months in the position, the Assistant Attorney General will be expected to work in the office at least three or four days per week.

    Position Type:Full-Time/Exempt

    Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.

    Salary: $137,417
