GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION UNIT

The Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General is looking for an experienced and highly motivated attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Gun Violence Prevention Unit (GVPU) within the Consumer Protection Division (CPD). This innovative Unit works to reduce gun violence in Massachusetts by enforcing the Commonwealth’s gun safety laws and supporting compliance efforts in partnership with law enforcement, other government agencies, and community stakeholders.
Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General will work closely with the GVPU Director to advance the Unit’s mission, with a primary focus on enforcement-related investigations and litigation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Position Requirements:
Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date. Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must pass the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date.

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt
Location: This position may be based in the Boston Office, Springfield Regional Office, Worcester Regional Office, or New Bedford Regional Office. Office location will be determined based on the candidate’s expressed preference and space availability. Travel to the Boston Office may be required.
Salary: $87,500 to $130,595, commensurate with JD year.
Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.
