Fosterfields Living Historic Farm- Morris County Park Commission

At Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, our visitors experience farm living as it was done over 100 years ago at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm. At this 213.4-acre New Jersey and National Register Historic Site, our visitors can enjoy many of the daily farm activities that took place in the 1920s. On the farm, visit the farm animals, witness the farmer plowing or planting of the fields using antique machinery, and help perform daily tasks, such as colleting eggs, grinding corn to feed the chickens, and cleaning the harness. Visit the authentic 1920s Farmhouse where the farm foreman once lived, and compare it to the 1854 Gothic revival-style mansion, The Willows that was once the home to the elite Foster family, the previous owners of Fosterfields. Strike up a conversation with one of the docents dressed in period clothing to learn more details about the lifestyle of those who lived and worked on the farm. Tour the interactive Transportation Exhibit filled with antique automobiles. There is a calendar of special programs and events for everyone to enjoy!

The Mission of the Morris County Park Commission’s Fosterfields Living Historical Farm is to advance the public’s awareness, appreciation and understanding of the social, agricultural, and architectural history of the Morristown area from the period 1880-1930. Fosterfields pursues its Mission through authentic restorations, artifact collections and archives, exhibits, and dynamic living-history interpretations portraying the history of the Revere/Foster farm during this time period. In this manner, Fosterfields reflects and complements the goals of the Morris County Park Commission, which include preserving local heritage and protecting open space, consistent with the donor’s wishes.

We serve the public of Morris County New Jersey and the majority of our visitors are families with small children.
