Maryland General Assembly, Office of Delegate Ariana Kelly

The General Assembly is Maryland's legislative body and directly represents the electorate. The state has 47 districts represented by 47 Senators and 141 Delegates.

Delegate Ariana Kelly represents the 16th District in Montgomery County. She was elected in November 2010 and began her first term in office in 2011. Delegate Kelly sits on the Health and Government Operations Committee (insurance subcommittee and minority health disparities subcommittee).

Her legislative interests include women's health, workplace equality, child care and the interests of children with special health and education needs. Prior to joining the legislature, Delegate Kelly directed the Family Economic Security and Environmental Health programs at[[http:MomsRising.org|MomsRising.org]] and served as the Executive Director at NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland. As delegate, she has authored successful legislation to require health insurance to cover treatment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and to strengthen protections for individuals seeking mental health and substance abuse treatment.
