First elected to the Maryland General Assembly in 2002, Senator Carter has established herself on a leading voice of change in Maryland. Serving as the Chair of the Joint Committee on Federal Relations, long-time member of the Judicial Proceedings Committee, and Senate representative to several outside agencies, she has proven a reliable partner to advocates and lawmakers alike. Always keeping the cause of community as the foremost priority, Senator Carter is proud of the hundreds of concerned constituents she has helped navigate through the cumbersome bureaucratic process and to serve such a beautifully-diverse electorate.
