Our mission extends beyond the classroom. We support the whole family by providing nutritious meals, diapers, wipes, baby food, formula, and other essential resources to help children thrive.

About the Community Foundation of South Jersey Encore Fellows Initiative

The Encore Fellows Initiative connects talented professionals age 55 and older with nonprofit organizations seeking experienced leaders to complete strategic, capacity-building projects.

Rather than filling an ongoing staff position, Encore Fellows use decades of professional experience to help nonprofits build sustainable systems, strengthen operations, and create lasting community impact.

    The Opportunity

Glassboro Child Development Centers is seeking an experienced professional to design and launch a comprehensive Experiential Learning and Volunteer Engagement Program.

As the Experiential Learning Coordinator, you will create the systems, partnerships, and infrastructure needed to recruit, place, support, and recognize interns, apprentices, Foster Grandparents, Federal Work Study students, and community volunteers.

This is an ideal opportunity for a retired or late-career professional who enjoys building programs, mentoring others, and strengthening nonprofit organizations.

    Responsibilities

    The Encore Fellow will:

    • Design and implement agency-wide systems for recruiting, onboarding, supervising, evaluating, and recognizing experiential learners and volunteers.
    • Recruit Foster Grandparents, Federal Work Study students, high school apprentices, college interns, and community volunteers.
    • Build partnerships with local school districts, colleges, universities, workforce development organizations, and community partners.
    • Coordinate participant placements based on organizational needs, participant skills, and learning goals.
    • Develop a comprehensive orientation and onboarding program.
    • Collaborate with supervisors to create meaningful projects and learning experiences.
    • Design participant evaluation, retention, and recognition strategies.
    • Coordinate volunteer appreciation and learner recognition activities.
    • Develop an Experiential Learning Handbook and sustainable program resources.
    • Create systems that GCDC can continue using after the fellowship concludes.

    Desired Outcomes

By the end of the fellowship, the Experiential Learning Coordinator will have:

    • Recruited and onboarded at least 10 Foster Grandparents, interns, Federal Work Study students, or community volunteers.
    • Established partnerships with three or more high schools, colleges, or universities.
    • Coordinated placements for 15–20 interns, apprentices, work-study students, or volunteers.
    • Developed an Experiential Learning Handbook.
    • Created a standardized participant evaluation system.
    • Established sustainable recruitment, onboarding, placement, and recognition processes.
