    Descrição

    Position Overview

In a moment when immigrant workers are being targeted, when enforcement expands beyond day labor corners into neighborhoods and workplaces, and when communities are organizing to defend one another — the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) is seeking a passionate and strategic Development Officer to help fuel this movement.

This is not simply a fundraising role. It is an opportunity to resource frontline defense, worker-led organizing, disaster recovery brigades, cultural resistance through music and art, and national campaigns like Adopt-a-Corner and the Immigrant Defense Fund. The Development Officer will play a critical role in helping translate the power of immigrant worker leadership into compelling narratives and sustainable revenue.

Working collaboratively within the Development Department, the Development Officer will help expand and deepen NDLON’s presence among philanthropic partners. This role will design, lead, and support innovative fundraising strategies that strengthen how we tell our story, build long-term partnerships, and inspire investment in immigrant justice.

Salary placement is commensurate with experience. NDLON offers a competitive and values-aligned benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; an employer-contributed IRA plan; and generous paid time off. The Development Officer reports directly to the Director of Development and joins a team that sees fundraising as an extension of organizing — rooted in relationship, strategy, and solidarity.

    Specific Responsibilities

    Foundation Relations

    • Support a portfolio of philanthropic partners investing in immigrant worker organizing, cultural strategy, legal defense, and equity-centered recovery efforts
    • Partner closely with program lead to strategize, draft, and assemble compelling proposals
    • Track accomplishments, outcomes, and movement-building impact to support strong evaluation and reporting
    • Maintain thoughtful, values-aligned relationships with funders through timely updates, site visits, briefings, and impact storytelling

    Donor Relations

    • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors through personalized outreach, strengthening retention and long-term engagement
    • Support creative strategies to grow individual giving at all levels — from grassroots supporters to major donors
    • Collaborate with the communications team to craft compelling fundraising appeals, digital campaigns, donor briefings, and impact narratives that reflect urgency and hope

    Data Management & Fundraising Operations

    • Strengthen grant and contract systems, calendars, and workflows to increase efficiency and expand NDLON’s funding portfolio
    • Maintain a deep understanding of NDLON’s mission, strategy, and campaigns, effectively conveying this work to current and prospective partners
    • Track and analyze donor trends and funding patterns to inform strategic growth

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and/or 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, or related fields
    • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
    • Knowledge of and passion for immigrant and workers’ rights
    • Strong planning and organizational skills paired with adaptability, creativity, and comfort working in fast-moving environments
    • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize program data into compelling narratives
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
