    Company Description: The Association for X and Y Chromosome Variations (AXYS), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by one or more extra X and/or Y chromosomes. The organization focuses on sharing evidence-based knowledge, providing community support, and promoting advocacy and action to improve quality of life. AXYS serves people with a wide range of chromosomal variations, including trisomy X, Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY), 47,XYY, and other complex X and Y chromosome configurations, including mosaicism. By collaborating with healthcare professionals, researchers, and families, AXYS works to increase awareness, access to resources, and positive outcomes across the lifespan.

    Role Description The position is a part-time, flexible, remote role, responsible for maintaining smooth daily operations and accurate financial records for AXYS. Weekly hours will range between 4-8 hours initially. The position can grow into a full time position. This role manages general office administration tasks such as scheduling meetings, supporting communication, and managing volunteers. The position also handles bookkeeping functions, including processing invoices and payments, recording transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing basic financial reports, and supporting budgeting activities under the direction of leadership or an external accountant. Every 2 years, AXYS hosts a large conference. This position will help plan and coordinate that conference. Day-to-day responsibilities include responding to inquiries from families, partners, and service providers, maintaining membership and donor records, assisting with event logistics and board support, and ensuring timely and professional customer service. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently, coordinate multiple priorities, and uphold the mission-driven values of the organization.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates should possess strong Administrative Assistance and Office Administration skills, including organizing records, managing schedules, and supporting day-to-day operations.
    • Candidates should possess proficiency with Office Equipment and basic office technology, including computers, printers, scanners, and standard productivity software (e.g., word processing and spreadsheets).
    • Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with families, partners, board members, and vendors in writing and verbally.
    • Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills, demonstrating empathy, responsiveness, and respect for individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.
    • Foundational bookkeeping skills, including accounts payable/receivable, account reconciliation, and familiarity with accounting or donor management software, are highly beneficial.
    • Attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and reliability in handling sensitive information and confidential records are required.
    • Experience in a nonprofit or healthcare-related environment, and an interest in genetic or rare conditions, is a plus.
    • Experience coordinating and planning events.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or a degree in business, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
