    Executive Director

    Location: Seattle, WA

    Salary Range: $88,000 – $95,000 annually

    We are a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to preserving the rich maritime heritage of the Pacific Northwest while serving as an educational and cultural hub for the Seattle community and beyond.     We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter of growth and impact.

    The Opportunity

    As Executive Director, you will serve as the organization’s chief executive, guiding strategic direction, overseeing operations, and advancing our fundraising and development efforts. This is a high-impact role for a collaborative, forward-facing leader with strong fundraising acumen, operational expertise, and a deep commitment to community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

      • Lead and expand fundraising efforts through major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, donor-advised funds, and earned income
      • Manage financial operations including budgeting, reporting, and long-term planning (GAAP knowledge preferred)
      • Oversee all programmatic and administrative functions, including volunteer management/leadership, historic vessel restoration, and membership
      • Serve as the primary ambassador to donors, community organizations, elected officials, and the public
      • Develop and sustain strategic partnerships across sectors (education, maritime, government, tech, etc.)
      • Champion diversity, inclusion, and belonging in programming and communications
      • Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and through digital/media platforms

    What We’re Looking For

      • 7–10 years of senior leadership in a nonprofit, Maritime, or community-based organization
      • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relationship building
      • Strong financial acumen and experience managing day-to-day operations
      • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
      • Strategic thinker with collaborative and creative leadership style
      • Experience or strong interest in maritime heritage, preservation, or education is a plus
      • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s in Nonprofit Management, Museum Studies, or related field preferred
