    GENERAL SUMMARY:

The mission of Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is to create opportunities for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region to prosper in life. The intended impact is that participating youth will become Snider student-athletes with age-appropriate social-emotional strengths and skills to succeed and contribute as students, employees and community members. The Goals + Assists Program supports Snider high school students from 9th through 12th grades as they learn about and pursue various postsecondary pathways such as attending college, university, trade school, enlisting in the military, or entering the workforce.

Through the G+A Program, the Postsecondary Preparation Coordinator will have the opportunity to create lifechanging impact for Snider high school students by providing individualized guidance as students develop and launch their postsecondary plans. By visiting Snider rinks on a rotating basis to build relationships with Snider students and family members while also collaborating with Snider team members, the Postsecondary Preparation Coordinator will work to ensure everyone is taking full advantage of the supports and resources the Goals + Assists Program offers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Conduct at least two in-person meetings per school year with all active 10th and 11th grade students (approximately 90 students), while overseeing meetings between Postsecondary Advisors and 9th grade students (approximately 60 students). These advising meetings will provide guidance on postsecondary planning, which includes support with educational, financial, and professional aspirations.
    • Support in developing and delivering Snider’s postsecondary prep curriculum that allows high school students to learn more about how to successfully pursue college, trade school, joining the military, or entering the workforce. This will include programming such as info sessions, campus tours, dual enrollment, SAT/ACT prep, and the Goals + Assists Scholarship School Fair.
    • Collect and monitor student data, including school grades and attendance information, SAT and ACT test scores, extracurricular involvement, jobs and internships, participation in summer opportunities, etc.
    • Promote the Goals + Assists Program and its associated activities through marketing materials and one-on-one meetings with students, as well as collaborating with other staff in the organization to ensure high school students are aware of supports and opportunities available.
    • Develop and distribute the Goals + Assists Program application to students and oversee onboarding new participants to drive engagement.
    • Assist in holding students accountable for meeting Goals + Assists Program requirements.
    • Collaborate in promoting scholarship opportunities to students and families; oversee the collection of required documents, assist with candidate interviews, and support the selection process for the Goals + Assists Scholarship.
    • Work with the Breakaway Scholarships Coordinator to conduct required meetings for high school students receiving the Breakaway Scholarship.
    • Work with the Career Success Coordinator on professional exploration and individualized counseling related to current and future job opportunities. Support the collection of resumes and provide feedback to students for improvement.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families, current and potential partners, schools, and other stakeholders.
    • Celebrate student successes, especially around high school graduation.
    • Support Goals + Assists Program Coordinator with supervision of Postsecondary Advisors.

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on interpersonal communication.
    • Demonstrate advanced computer literacy and an ability to interpret and learn from data; proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience with Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) platform is preferred.
