    Descrição

Adamah Detroit cultivates vibrant Jewish life—deeply connected to the Earth—through Jewish environmental education, leadership development, and climate action. Since launching in 2015, Adamah Detroit has served as a key convener and catalyst, partnering across Southeast Michigan to integrate Earth-based Judaism and environmental stewardship into Jewish communal life.

Our joyful, experiential programs nurture young people’s connection to Jewish tradition and the natural world. Through leadership development and field-building initiatives, we strengthen Jewish environmental education and empower institutions to act meaningfully on climate through the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition.

Position Overview: The Adamah Detroit Program Associate is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), grant-funded position that works collaboratively across the Adamah Detroit team to design, deliver, and grow impactful Jewish environmental education and engagement initiatives.

This Metro Detroit–based role is hybrid, with a mix of remote work and in-person meetings and programs throughout the region. Reliable transportation is required.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Educational Programming

    • Support the development, coordination, and facilitation of Jewish environmental education programs, with attention to quality, impact, and participant experience. Current initiatives include School Break Camps; Nature Chuggim (nature-based Jewish experiential education for elementary-age learners); Adamah Nature Camp at JCC Day Camp; and Adamah Nature Club after-school programs.
    • Build and steward relationships with partner organizations and key stakeholders to support program growth.
    • Co-create and support Jewish holiday programs that reflect Adamah Detroit’s mission and engage the broader community.
    • Contribute to network-wide events and gatherings, including the annual Adamah Detroit Community Summit.

    Program Administration

    • Provide strong customer service and operational support, including managing inquiries, scheduling, program bookings, invoicing and payments, data entry, photo uploads, and program evaluations.
    • Represent Adamah Detroit at community events, conferences, and tabling opportunities.

    Field Building & Leadership Development

    • Collaborate with colleagues to design and facilitate trainings and leadership development experiences that advance the field of Jewish environmental education in Southeast Michigan.
    • Support programs at conferences, summer camps, educational institutions, and partner organizations.

    Revenue Generation

    • Identify and support earned-revenue opportunities, such as trainings, consulting, and curriculum development projects, in collaboration with colleagues.

    Collaboration & Organizational Engagement

    • Work across Adamah hubs and with local and national colleagues to remain connected to Adamah’s Climate Action and Youth Empowerment initiatives and integrate relevant learnings locally.
    • Participate actively in team meetings, all-staff meetings, and divisional gatherings.
    • Support lay leadership engagement, including advisory council meetings and fundraising initiatives.
    • Assist with outreach, communications, and community-building efforts, including supporting social media storytelling to share Adamah Detroit’s impact.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support Adamah Detroit’s interdisciplinary and collaborative work, including program setup, coalition engagement, administrative support, communications, and development efforts.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    The ideal candidate brings:

    • Passion for working with children and cultivating lifelong environmental connection and stewardship.
    • Experience in outdoor, experiential, or environmental education with children and/or families (including Jewish camps or informal education settings).
    • Curriculum and lesson-planning experience.
    • Demonstrated commitment to environmental values through personal and professional practice.
    • Strong collaboration skills, paired with the ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities.
    • Experience within Jewish communal organizations.
    • Excellent organizational systems and attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including program facilitation, public speaking, email communications, and social media storytelling.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: $47,000-$50,000 annually
    • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 4% employer retirement match (401(k) with TransAmerica); life and supplemental insurance; HSA/FSA options.
    • Time Off: 14–18 Jewish and federal holidays, 15 vacation days, and 9 sick days annually.
    • Professional Development: Opportunities to engage in ongoing learning aligned with Adamah’s mission. This role may include participation in an all-expenses-paid Jewish experiential education professional development training in the fall 2026.

    Location & Schedule

This full-time position is based at Adamah Detroit’s shared coworking space at the Samantha Woll Center for Jewish Detroit (home of the Downtown Synagogue). Adamah Detroit offers a hybrid and flexible work environment with required in-person programs and meetings across Metro Detroit.

The schedule varies to accommodate Sunday programs and occasional late afternoon or evening commitments (approximately two weekends per month during high programming seasons). Adamah Detroit limits meetings on Friday to support focused work time, with limited exceptions for programs. Staff enjoy seasonal early stops on Fridays and select Jewish holidays. Additional expectations include participation in an annual out-of-state all-staff gathering and approved professional development opportunities.
