    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Founded in 1982, Cancer Support Community Los Angeles (CSCLA) is the founding affiliate of the largest network for cancer support worldwide. Our mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Since its formation, CSCLA has worked to provide evidence-based psychosocial support at no cost to all persons impacted by cancer in the Los Angeles area (including those living with cancer and their families, caregivers, and loved ones), especially those with limited access to care due to entrenched health inequities, stigma, and discrimination.

The Donor Engagement Coordinator is responsible for implementing strategies that ensure every donor—from first-time givers to long-term supporters—feels appreciated and connected to our mission. This role is primarily focused on stewardship, communication, and donor / fundraiser recruitment and retention, and is crucial for maintaining the health and growth of the organization’s individual giving programs and events.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    Donor Stewardship and Engagement

    • General administrative support, including fielding intake calls and general office support related to both donation support and programming.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for general donors, responding promptly and professionally to all inquiries via phone and email.
    • Serve as primary point of contact for peer-to-peer fundraising events and activities, recruiting and support fundraisers in setting up online pages, troubleshooting, and coaching in fundraising.
    • Complete all aspects of donation gift processing in a timely manner including bank deposits; data entry of gifts into donor database; managing calls and emails related to donations; tracking and fulfilling pledge payments; printing, mailing, and tracking tribute notes and tax receipts.
    • In collaboration with the Development and Communications Manager, update and utilize donor database. Includes but not limited to relationship and household management; generating donor reports and mailing lists; monthly reconciliation of donation reports with finance team; and database maintenance.
    • Conduct basic research on current and prospective donors and/or fundraisers to identify their capacity, interests, and potential for giving or participation.

    Events and Engagement Activities

    • Oversee all aspects of silent auctions and raffles at fundraising events, including soliciting in-kind donations (goods and services), coordinating item collection and display, and overseeing the on-site event logistics and post-auction fulfillment.
    • Provide in-person logistical support for donor-focused events, such as third-party fundraising events, donor appreciation events, annual galas, and peer-to-peer fundraising events. Includes working with Event Planning Consultant to prep venue space, identifying volunteer activities, securing volunteers for on-site activities and special events, and representing CSCLA at events.
    • Management of online donation pages and websites through online giving platforms for various campaigns and appeals, peer-to-peer fundraisers, special events, and more.
    • Coordinate volunteer opportunities to support the development department and fundraising events.

The above job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties. Incumbents will follow any other instructions, and perform any other related duties, as assigned by their supervisor.
