    About the Organization:

GBSN is a global network of business schools that work together to strengthen the contributions of management education to the development needs of society. The GBSN staff team provides leadership, coordination, and support for network members to:

    • Foster deeper connections among faculty experts across world regions,
    • Enhance student access to international and experiential learning opportunities, and
    • Connect experts to co-develop resources that support context-rich and locally relevant business and entrepreneurship education.

    Position Summary:

The Manager, Communications and Marketing is a hybrid communications-and-marketing role that combines strategic planning with hands-on content creation and execution. The role’s broad goals include elevating member engagement, strengthening network visibility, and advancing awareness of GBSN’s mission and impact. This position has functional leadership responsibilities involving a high degree of collaboration and cross-functional coordination, but has no direct reports.

This position also ensures consistent, compelling, and professional brand representation across GBSN’s web properties, social media, newsletters, and organizational publications in order to deepen awareness of and engagement with the mission.

The Manager, Communications and Marketing is also responsible for developing strategies that involve the broader staff team in communications initiatives, ensuring communications activity is well-integrated across programs. The role plays a key part in planning and executing the organization’s annual conference, GBSN Beyond, including communication strategy, event promotions, speaker/sponsor visibility, and storytelling.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement communication plans that support the organization's mission, increase awareness of and engagement with products and services, and build community connections across the network.
    • Create and deliver high-quality written content for various media channels, including newsletters, social media, marketing materials, websites, blogs, and announcements.
    • Guide the evolution of the organization's digital presence and strategic brand communications including oversight of website content and social media presence.
    • Incorporate member organizations’ interests, assets, successes, and contributions into overall network communications.
    • Lead communication and marketing components of GBSN Beyond, including communications, event promotions, speaker/sponsor visibility, and storytelling, and other responsibilities as needed in coordination with the events team.
    • Contribute to the planning and execution of other events and initiatives as needed through strategic marketing and communications support.

To be successful in this position you will thrive in an environment with:

    • A small but flexible, hard-working, and proactive team. We operate with a small team of <10 individuals including full-time staff and contractors. You are flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with blurred boundaries for individual responsibility in pursuit of organizational goals.
    • Global constituents and collaborators. We rely heavily on contributions and collaborations from a global network of partners and volunteers. You thrive on finding ways to work effectively across cultures, time zones, and organizational contexts.
    • A culture that blends start-up with scale. We have celebrated our second decade with many sustained members and programs. At the same time, we have made substantive changes to our operating model in recent years and see tremendous potential for creating new programs that support our mission and extend our reach. You equally enjoy ideation as well as concept evaluation and execution.

Ideal candidates for this position will also have:

    • Minimum of three to four years of relevant work experience, preferably including external communications, program marketing, content strategy, and volunteer/customer engagement.
    • Ability to develop and execute a content strategy aligned with organizational goals and tailored to target audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and proofread with a high degree of accuracy and minimal oversight; able to ensure the clarity and quality of both self-produced content and materials created by others.
    • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot or similar) and an understanding of how to use them for contact management, email distribution, and engagement tracking.
    • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar) to update and manage website content, with a working understanding of UX principles that support intuitive navigation and content organization.
    • Ability to utilize various software tools and platforms including social media management tools and presentation/design applications (e.g., Canva, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders.
    • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, communications, or another relevant field.

This is a full-time, fully remote position with benefits. Typical office hours are 9 am - 5 pm US Eastern time, with occasional programs and obligations taking place in the mornings, evenings or weekends to accommodate our global operations. We are open to some flexibility in scheduling that aligns with our program and operational needs. The position may require occasional US domestic and/or international travel.
