Miami Homes For All, Inc. (MHFA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure all Miami-Dade residents have a safe, affordable place to call home. We seek a motivated, resourceful, and positive individual to increase the supply of affordable housing and lower-income residents’ access to it. This position will support the Greater Miami Housing Funders Collaborative to accelerate investments in affordable housing across Miami-Dade. A major part of this position’s responsibility is being in the community and sourcing potential projects to present to the Funders Collaborative. The Funders Collaborative includes for-profit and non-profit financial institutions, public agencies, and philanthropic organizations. This position will work closely with our contracted partner, Enterprise Community Partners. The ideal candidate is a skilled relationship-builder and project manager with deep knowledge of housing and community development, coalition management, and systems-level collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pipeline Cultivation and Identification
- Serve as the primary coordinator of the Greater Miami Housing Funders Collaborative to engage funders, community stakeholders, and policymakers.
- Develop meeting agendas, facilitate discussions, and ensure strong communication among members. This will include preparing applicants to pitch projects:
- Facilitate Enterprise Community Partners deal review and incorporate feedback.
- Develop Fact Sheet and Project Packets prior to PRC meeting.
- Lead Pipeline Review meetings, including agenda setting and live facilitation of bimonthly meetings.
- Maintain and help develop pipeline for the Greater Miami Funders Collaborative Pipeline Review Committee alongside Enterprise. This includes:
- Maintaining relationships with developers and routinely checking in on the status of projects.
- Meeting with developers who could be a fit for the Funders Collaborative Pipeline Review.
- Marketing activities for the Pipeline Review including developing externally facing materials, working with MHFA Communications Manager to ensure MHFA branding and dissemination on social media.
- Manage Neighborly, an online application portal for housing projects.
- Relationship & Resource Development and Management:
- Partner with Enterprise to implement a capital strategy for affordable housing projects, including research on external funding models, conversations with potential funders, fund management and structure strategic advice.
- Identify and pursue funding resources to implement the capital strategy.
- Recruit housing funders to join the Collaborative and consider affordable housing development applications for investment.
- Monitor local and state housing policy developments and identify opportunities for collective advocacy. Synthesize research, data, and best practices to inform coalition strategy.
- Support the coalition in developing and executing a multi-year strategic plan to increase affordable housing outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for joint funding, policy alignment, and resource leveraging among coalition members.
- Cultivate relationships with community development organizations, local government, developers, and advocacy partners.
- Represent the coalition and organization at public meetings, conferences, and community events.
- Ensure transparent communication with external partners and the broader housing ecosystem.
- Manage relationships with developers, investors, and key stakeholders to support the Collaborative’s success and alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and implement strategies for leveraging and maximizing funding opportunities.
- Analyze and assess funding requirements for various projects, providing recommendations for allocation.
- Assist Enterprise in providing technical assistance to developers as they prepare their applications and pitches.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track progress toward performance metrics and produce regular updates and reports.
- Facilitate regular meetings and communication with funders and developers to provide updates on project progress and funding status.
- Manage budgets, financial reports, and program expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and program effectiveness.
- Track and report on the use of funds, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and organizational policies.
- Monitor funders’ investments and development progress to track outcomes. Prepare and present reports on funding status, project outcomes, and impact to stakeholders and funders.
- Oversee budgets, contracts, and reporting for coalition-backed programs.
- Manage consultants or contractors supporting coalition activities.
- Provide training and coaching on all Funders Collaborative activities and additional activities, including the Investment Advisory Council and the annual Developers Conference
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, public administration, urban planning, economics, or a related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in community development finance, housing policy, affordable housing development, banking, or a related area with demonstrated knowledge of best practices in community development finance.
- Proven success managing coalitions, collaborative initiatives, or funder partnerships.
- Strong facilitation, diplomacy, and communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of housing finance, policy, and local Miami-Dade housing dynamics preferred.
- Commitment to racial equity, systems change, and community-driven solutions.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Google+ Suite, and portal management, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and coalition with diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Clear and engaging verbal communication.
- Able to write concisely and in a manner that builds relationships.
