    Port Discovery Children's Museum, one of the top Children's Museum in the United States and a top cultural institution in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, is seeking a thoughtful, proactive, and system-savvy Membership & Data Manager.     Position Summary:

    The Membership & Data Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of the Membership program and oversee the integrity, performance, and optimization of the museum's customer relationship management system. We're currently transitioning to Veevart, a Salesforce-based CRM system specific for museums, and this role will be key in leading that shift across departments. This role balances exceptional member service and sales strategies with technical proficiency in database administration. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves clean data and big-picture thinking, allowing us to deepen our relationships with the families, members, funders, and the partners we serve.

    This is a full-time position, typically working Monday to Friday. There may be a few rare exceptions requiring weekend or evening work for special events.

    The salary range for this position is $55k to $60k, based on experience.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in membership, sales, or customer service.
      • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Veevart, Salesforce or another CRM platform, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural institution. Special consideration if there is experience specifically with Veevart.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel and data management skills.
    • Prior experience in database hygiene, segmentation, reporting, and user training.
    • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Customer-focused with the ability to be reasonable and flexible.
    • Ability to manage and organize a high volume of inquiries via email and phone.
    • Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
    • Self-motivated, energetic, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    Membership Operations

    • Lead daily membership processes including onboarding, renewals, upgrades, and member communication.
    • Respond to phone and email inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
    • Develop and implement marketing plans in collaboration with Marketing and Sales departments to meet or exceed revenue goals.
    • Represent the Museum at in-house and off-site events to cultivate member engagement and sell memberships.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing and Learning & Visitor Experience teams to align messaging and experience.
    • Monitor customer feedback, implement adjustments, and communicate concerns to relevant departments.

    Database Administration

    • Serve as the lead administrator for our CRM (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce), overseeing daily operations, user support, and system improvements.
    • Lead data entry standards and champion best practices for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
    • Conduct regular data audits, deduplication, and cleanup to ensure integrity of member and guest data.
    • Build and generate reports, dashboards, and queries to support strategic initiatives and performance tracking.
    • Manage user roles, permissions, and troubleshooting requests across departments.
    • Support import/export of data, list segmentation, and mailings.
    • Help build a culture of data literacy and accountability through staff training and coaching.
    • Liaise with IT and vendors as needed for CRM integrations or upgrades.

    Cross-Departmental Support

    • Provide backup support to the Box Office during peak periods.
    • Participate in Admissions and Sales team meetings to align on goals, promotions, and initiatives.
    • Assist with special projects or new system implementation as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as needed to support the museum's mission and goals.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Frequent sitting and sedentary office work for normal work duties. Occasional standing & walking throughout the museum, bending and reaching with hands and arms, when moving between different areas of the museum and attending meetings. Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear for administrative and sales communications tasks. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Must be comfortable working around large crowds. The noise level is typically moderate; it can be louder on busier days. Normal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday. Occasional local travel may be required for off-site events.
