    Position Title: Pastoral Care Coordinator

    Position Supervisor: Leadership Team Liaison

    Position Hours: Part-time (3 days per week)

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime)

    Position Summary:

    In collaboration with the Leadership Team and the Holistic Health and Wellness Team, the Pastoral Care Coordinator develops and implements practices that support the spiritual lives of the sisters and fosters environments for spiritual growth, enabling the sisters to live religious life to the fullest capacity. The Pastoral Care Coordinator Position reflects the Sparkill Congregation’s commitment to serve the pastoral and spiritual needs of our elder sisters and/or infirmed sisters.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    In collaboration with the Leadership Team and Holistic Health and Wellness Team, the Pastoral Care Coordinator

    • Develops an overall spiritual/pastoral program.
    • Completes an informal spiritual/pastoral assessment of each sister-in-residence.
    • Develops a spiritual/pastoral care plan that recognizes the uniqueness of each sister.
    • Provides opportunities for community-building among Sisters-in-residence: prayer/faith sharing opportunities, spiritual companioning, spiritual enrichment.
    • Visits sisters regularly and as requested by a sister or other.
    • Coordinates with the health care personnel in assisting a sister to transition from one level of care to another, including spiritual and emotional support.
    • Participates in the end-of-life and palliative/hospice care with the sister, family, and staff, as needed.
    • Requests anointing of the sick for any sister whose condition indicates this or is requested by the sister or other person.
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Administrative:

    • Develops and monitors the budget for this Pastoral Care account,
    • Prepares written quarterly reports for the Leadership Team.
    • Maintains files and records in good order.

    Qualifications:

    Education:Spiritual Direction/spirituality-related field Bachelor’s Degree and Certification and/or equivalent in Pastoral Care.

    Minimum four years of experience working with groups in spiritual development. Working with aging populations is preferred.

    Knowledge: Understanding of Catholic Vowed Religious Life, and/or commitment to learn about vowed life.

    Specific Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership qualities, including:

    • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to deal with varied personalities in a tactful/professional manner.
    • A personal spirituality.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    Accountability: The Pastoral Care Coordinator reports to the Leadership Team Liaison.

    Other: This position requires a valid driver’s license, and ability to work on a flexible schedule, on occasion. The person must be able to move wheelchair-dependent sisters around the facility.

    Physical Requirements:

      • Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
      • A balance of mobile and sedentary work.
        • Frequently mobile to provide services and support in individual residences.
        • Frequently kneeling/crouching/reaching/stooping/bending.
        • Frequently moves/lifts supplies or equipment.
        • Assists in transfers and repositioning of Sisters.
        • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
        • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
        • Eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity to perform job related responsibilities.

    Salary Range: $28.50 per hour to $32.00 per hour (based on education and experience)
