The Opportunity
A major private philanthropic foundation with a longstanding commitment to strengthening Jewish life and creating meaningful impact in the United States and Israel is building a new grantmaking team and seeking an experienced Grants Officer focused on Jewish Education.
This is a newly created position reporting to the Executive Vice President of Grants. The Grants Officer will bring broad knowledge of Jewish education to a major philanthropic institution and help identify, evaluate, and support opportunities across a diverse portfolio that includes teens, college students and young adults, Israel educational experiences, synagogue movements, synagogue-based education, and other approaches to Jewish learning and engagement.

What You'll Do
- Remain current on developments, trends, research, and emerging opportunities in the field of Jewish education.
- Identify opportunities for philanthropic investment within the Jewish community.
- Build relationships with organizations and leaders across the Jewish education ecosystem.
- Assess opportunities across multiple modalities of Jewish formal learning and engagement.
- Review proposals and participate in due diligence processes.
- Monitor grantee compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Board and/or Board committees.
- Work closely with the finance office, legal department, and colleagues across the grants team.
- Bring strategic thinking, sound judgment, and broad field knowledge to philanthropic decision-making.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- At least five years of full-time professional experience.
- Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
- Broad knowledge of Jewish education in the United States.
- Knowledge of programs serving Jewish teens, college students, and young adults.
- Familiarity with educational trips to Israel for American youth.
- Knowledge of synagogue movements and synagogue-based education.
- Ability to assess organizations, programs, and investment opportunities using sound field knowledge, analytical judgment, and an understanding of philanthropic strategy.
- Grant initiation, development, monitoring, and analysis experience.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
