Femena is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Finance Consultant to support our small organization. The primary focus of this role is maintaining accurate financial records in QuickBooks, tracking project and organizational expenses, monitoring budgets, and preparing clear financial reports for leadership, funders, and audits.
We are looking for someone who is highly organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment with a flexible schedule. This is a part-time consultancy position requiring no more than 10 hours per week, though hours may vary depending on organizational needs and reporting cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks.
- Track organizational and project-related expenses across multiple grants and funding streams.
- Monitor budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
- Reconcile accounts, transactions, receipts, and financial documentation on a regular basis.
- Assist with organization and maintenance of digital financial records and supporting documentation.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare quarterly and ad hoc financial reports for funders, the Board, and the Executive Director.
- Assist in budget preparation, budget tracking, and financial forecasting.
- Support preparation of annual financial summaries and organizational reporting materials.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate for this position will have:
- Demonstrated professional experience with QuickBooks, including maintaining bookkeeping records and generating financial reports.
- Demonstrated experience working with grants, budgets and financial reporting for both U.S. and E.U.-based funders and donors.
- Strong experience tracking budgets, expenditures, and grant-related costs.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility in schedule and availability to respond to periodic reporting and organizational needs.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting principles. Familiarity with nonprofit accounting is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of financial regulations in both the U.S. or Europe is highly desirable.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in bookkeeping, finance, or nonprofit administration.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience working with multiple currencies (EUR and USD) is strongly preferred.

Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required.
- French and/or Arabic language skills are considered an asset but are not required.
