Camp Kingswood seeks a full-time Assistant Camp Director of Marketing & Communications to join the senior leadership team.This role leads all camp communications and storytelling, ensuring that every Kingswood touchpoint reflects the camp’s mission, values, voice, and spirit. You report directly to the Camp Owner and Director.
The Assistant Camp Director strengthens relationships with campers, families, staff, alumni, and community partners while supporting year-round operations. You ensure all communications reflect the camp’s mission and values.
This job is full time, year round, in person preferred but can be hybrid and requires living on site in Maine during the summer months.
Responsibilities - Marketing & Brand Strategy
- Develop, lead, and continuously refine a year-round marketing and communications strategy aligned with enrollment, retention, and community goals.
- Serve as the owner of all camp communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with Kingswood’s values and voice across all platforms
- Plan, create, and manage digital and print marketing materials, including ads, promotional campaigns, and branded assets
- Collaborate with camp leadership on brand positioning, messaging, and enrollment strategy
- Manage paid digital marketing efforts, including SEO, search, and social media advertising
- Oversee and grow the camp’s referral program
- Provide internal design and communications support across departments, as needed
Responsibilities - Apparel, Merchandise & Camp Store
- Design, source, and manage production of camp apparel and promotional items (camper, staff, leadership, and marketing use)
- Oversee the online camp store, including product selection, pricing, inventory, and fulfillment
- Manage branded canteen items, inventory, and ordering
- Coordinate camper welcome gifts, milestone gifts, staff appreciation items, and leadership gifts
Responsibilities - Camper & Staff Engagement
- Lead new camper onboarding, including intake processes, welcome communications, and management of hot lists
- Support camper engagement and retention through year-round communication and relationship-building
- Support staff recruitment marketing, onboarding materials, and ongoing staff communications
- Partner with camp leadership on summer staff life initiatives, including culture-building and staff programs
Responsibilities - Community Engagement, Events & Recruitment
- Plan and execute recruitment events and community gatherings, including materials, logistics, and follow-up
- Lead planning for camper reunions, picnics, meetups, and alumni/community events
- Represent Camp Kingswood at recruitment and community events, as needed
Responsibilities - Rentals & Auxiliary Programs
- Support camp rental and auxiliary programs through marketing coordination, lead management, and client communication
Responsibilities - Operations & Administration
- Assist with development and implementation of the annual Program Calendar, including coordination of events, equipment, and scheduling
Summer Responsibilities - Head of Media & Communications
During the summer, the Assistant Camp Director serves as Head of Media & Communications, overseeing all camp media, storytelling, and communications. This role does not include cabin supervision, allowing full focus on media leadership.
- Lead and supervise the Media Team, including scheduling, task assignment, and feedback
- Oversee daily photo and video coverage of camp life across all programs
- Ensure documentation of major camp events and traditions
- Edit, curate, organize, archive, and manage media assets in alignment with brand standards
- Upload photos daily to CampInTouch for timely family communication
- Coordinate special media projects such as end-of-session slideshows, highlight reels, and interviews
- Collaborate with Camp Directors to ensure media aligns with camp values and priorities
- Oversee setup and functionality of audio-visual equipment for programs and events
- Develop and maintain an offseason shot list
- Serve as an engaged member of the summer administrative and leadership teams
- Participate in leadership meetings and rotate through On Duty night supervision
- Model Camp Kingswood’s values and professionalism throughout the summer

Qualifications & Skills
- Background in marketing, communications, or brand management
- Proficiency in Canva; strong skills in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- Working knowledge of video creation and editing
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, MailChimp, and WordPress
- Strong understanding of social media strategy and platforms (including Meta, TikTok, and emerging platforms)
- Experience with paid digital marketing, SEO, and online advertising
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills
- Creative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- CampMinder experience a plus
- Comfort and fluency in Jewish culture, values, and communal life, and the ability to reflect those authentically in communications.
- Meaningful prior camp experience required; overnight camp experience strongly preferred.
