In 2023, the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) opened a health clinic in Montgomery to provide free health services to formerly incarcerated individuals and other vulnerable populations in Alabama. EJI believes that access to high-quality health care is essential for reducing poverty and is a basic human right. EJI is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons.
EJI is seeking a talented and committed professional to manage the day-to-day operations of the EJI Health clinic as EJI continues to expand its health care program. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver, a strong communicator, has excellent attention to detail, and embraces a growth mindset. The position is responsible for ensuring efficient workflows and excellent patient experience.
About the Position
The Clinic Operations Coordinator will be responsible for general oversight of the day-to-day clinic operations, as well as performing front desk and reception duties. This position also plays a vital role in care coordination as part of patients’ EJI Health care team. The Clinic Operations Coordinator should be comfortable in a multi-disciplinary setting, and will support patients directly in navigating various holistic follow-up priorities.
The position is full-time, salaried, with benefits.

This position will be based at the EJI Health Clinic in Montgomery, Alabama. Additionally, the Clinic Operations Coordinator must be available for regular mobile clinic trips to offsite locations in Alabama. These trips may involve working outside of normal business hours. There are also occasional weekend clinic days.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who have experience operating in dynamic environments. Ideally candidates will have at least five years of work experience. Candidates must be committed to EJI’s mission to end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, challenge racial and economic injustice, and protect the basic human rights of the most vulnerable people in American society.
