    Arundel Rivers Federation seeks a full-time Office Assistant to provide administrative support to our staff, assist with fundraising and event planning, and help us communicate our work to supporters across our watersheds.

    ​About Arundel Rivers Federation:

    Deeply rooted in the South, West, and Rhode Rivers, Arundel Rivers Federation heals and protects our waterways and champions clean water across Maryland. Our office is located just minutes from historic downtown Annapolis, Maryland and houses a team of environmental leaders who deliver watershed restoration projects, monitor the health of our rivers, advocate for our lands and our rivers, and provide hands-on environmental educational opportunities.

    Responsibilities:

    The Office Assistant will report to the Deputy Director who oversees all development, external communication, and staff operations at Arundel Rivers. Specifically, the Office Assistant will assist the Deputy Director in the following ways:

    Development Program and Fundraising Support (50% of weekly hours)

    • Process weekly checks and donations accurately;
    • Generate and mail timely donor acknowledgement letters;
    • Assist in database management for newsletters and fundraising efforts;
    • Provide logistical support for event planning;
    • Collaborate to meet quarterly fundraising campaign goals; and
    • Manage in-house direct mailings to supporters.

    Communications (25% of weekly hours)

    • Publish engaging content for social media platforms;
    • Assist in the creation of the monthly e-newsletter to supporters;
    • Produce visual materials and graphics using Canva;
    • Draft and edit press releases and other communications materials for media outlets; and
    • Perform regular updates and maintenance of the website.

    General Administrative & Business Management (25% of weekly hours)

    • Monitor and respond to incoming emails and phone calls;
    • Manage monthly office supply procurement;
    • Maintain and submit monthly credit card reconciliation and mileage reports;
    • Coordinate logistics for staff and board meetings; and
    • Assist with general business and office management tasks as required.

    Work Schedule:

    The position will work 40 hours per week with most hours worked Monday through Friday. There will be occasional evening and weekend work attending and organizing fundraising and donor outreach events. Telework and flexible schedules are supported and encouraged.

    Position Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, finance, public relations, or a closely related discipline is preferred;
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks at once;
    • Experience or familiarity with database and website content management software;
    • Experience or familiarity with graphic design software, such as Canva;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
    • Familiarity with business management operations and budgeting is a plus, but is not required.

    Salary and Benefits:

    • Starting salary range is $46,000 to $50,000 depending upon qualifications. The position is eligible for performance-based bonuses as well as increases in annual salary based upon the outcome of performance reviews and regional economic trends;
