      The Lymphoma Research Foundation seeks a career-minded professional to join the team as a Development Manager to support the Development Department.

      Located in New York City, the Lymphoma Research Foundation is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives, and patient services. The Foundation’s mission is to realize the promise of science to eradicate lymphoma and serve the community touched by this disease.

      About the Foundation

      The Lymphoma Research Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer, by funding biomedical research and supporting the next generation of lymphoma researchers. With the guidance of the Foundation’s prestigious Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which is comprised of 45 of the world’s leading lymphoma experts, the Foundation invests in the research projects and scientists that have the greatest potential to improve our understanding of lymphomas and lead to improved treatment options for patients. To date, the Foundation has funded more than $86.4 million in research focused on the origins and treatment of lymphoma.

      Through comprehensive disease guides and publications, in-person conferences, and online resources, the Foundation provides education for people with lymphoma, as well as their loved ones and caregivers. A robust suite of Foundation patient services provides direct support to people who have received a lymphoma diagnosis. These services include the national Lymphoma Helpline, a Clinical Trials Information Service, Lymphoma Support Network, and patient aid grant program. An industry leader in digital communications, the Foundation maintains a strong presence on multiple social media platforms and has won national awards for its innovative use of social media to educate cancer patients. The Foundation developed a first of its kind mobile app for people with lymphoma which was recognized by Apple as one of the best medical apps in the country. The Foundation also provides continuing medical education programs designed to increase the knowledge, skills and performance of healthcare professionals who treat and care for people with lymphoma.

      About the Opportunity

      The Development Manager position will report to the Director of Leadership Annual Giving. Work location will be determined by geographic proximity. Applicants based in the New York Metropolitan Area will be expected to work on-site at the Foundation’s headquarters; all other applicants will be fully remote. Preference will be given to candidates located in Miami/South Florida, Chicago, Minneapolis, or Los Angeles.

      Please note that the organization utilizes a flex schedule, and all New York-based staff are required to work in the office weekly Tuesday-Thursday; staff may elect to work remotely

      Mondays and Fridays. The salary range for this exempt position is $55,000-$65,000 annually, based on applicable skills and experience. The organization also offers a robust benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability, and a 403(b)-retirement plan with up to a 5% employer match.

      The ideal candidate for this position will be a detail-oriented professional with 2-3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising and/or event management. This organized self-starter should be able to confidently manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of customer service and communication with external stakeholders. They will be effective working independently but comfortable communicating regularly with donors, volunteers, and Foundation leadership. The candidate should be a natural problem-solver who proactively researches solutions to challenges and identifies new opportunities for the Foundation while valuing the experience of those around them.

      Responsibilities

      Fundraise Your Way

      • Manage the Foundation’s Fundraise Your Way program of donor-initiated fundraising events and achieve annual fundraising and program metrics by stewarding and supporting new and existing volunteer fundraisers.
      • Work with Director of Leadership Annual Giving to identify new fundraisers through discovery and stewardship calls to existing Foundation donors and volunteers and develop strategies to reach outside audiences.
      • Work closely with Development staff to appropriately steward volunteer fundraisers through the creation and management of stewardship events and incentives.
      • Responsible for execution of Foundation’s annual Fundraise Your Way Awards program.
      • Work with Development Operations Team to create and maintain suite of reports related to revenue and other program KPIs.

      Leadership Annual Giving

      • Support the attainment of the Annual Giving team fundraising goals with a focus on the retention and upgrading of existing $1,000+ donors.
      • Identify, cultivate and solicit a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors representative of a variety of development programs (Peer-to-Peer, Annual Giving, Distinguished Events, Third Party, etc.) with a heavy emphasis on retaining/upgrading existing donors.
      • Qualify prospects for potential major gift capacity and interest. Provide appropriate background on prospects to be assigned to Major Gift portfolios.
      • Build relationships with donors and prospects who have high potential to deeply engage with the LRF mission as donors, volunteers, and volunteer fundraisers.
      • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of facts relating to the Foundation’s research, patient education, professional education, and patient and caretaker support programs, and communicate them appropriately to donors.

      Volunteer Program

      • Manage the Foundation’s emerging volunteer program, which allows individuals to contribute to the Foundation in new and meaningful ways, with an emphasis on creating new opportunities for volunteerism.
      • Work closely with colleagues across the Foundation to promote volunteer opportunities and collect information related to volunteer prospect leads.
      • Provide year-round communication and opportunities to carefully cultivate and steward volunteers to maximize engagement and demonstrate their impact.
      • Manage and maintain relationships with current and former Foundation volunteers with emphasis on converting volunteers to donors or volunteer fundraisers.

      Other Duties

      • Assist Development Department colleagues in donor engagement activities, including, but not limited to, writing thank you notes, making stewardship calls, and other activities as needed.
      • Support the Development Department at special projects and events, as needed.
      • Work with Development Operations Team to create and maintain suite of reports related to revenue and other program KPIs.

      Skills and Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
      • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with fundraising and/or customer service
      • Detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent time management skills
      • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required and Blackbaud products (Raiser’s Edge, NXT) strongly preferred
      • Experience with online giving platforms such as GoFundMe Pro (formerly Classy) preferred
      • Effective communication skills (oral and written) and a demonstrated ability to work well with others, as well as independently
      • Comfortable with phone and email customer service interactions
      • Ability and willingness to travel (domestic) 10-20% of the time, and work occasional nights and weekends if and when needed
      • Ability to lift and move supply boxes of up to 40 pounds during event preparation and execution
