    Descrição

    About the Organization:

Swaniti Initiative is a fourteen-year-old social enterprise working to build a sustainable future in a climate-constrained world. We focus on working with communities and governments to identify gaps in and opportunities for programs on energy security and economic development through research, coalition- and partnership-building, and technical assistance.

While most of our work has been internationally focused, over the past several years we have been exploring ways to make an impact at home in the United States, particularly around economic development in energy communities. We believe these communities – historically dependent on coal and other fossil fuels but increasingly looking towards a more future-proof economic base – have the aspirations, assets and talent to continue to grow and thrive. However, they also have immense opportunity to benefit from strategic approaches and platforms that can showcase their work. It’s with this in mind that Swaniti is working with communities across the country to build these capabilities and platforms that will help them become more economically competitive.

    Job Summary:

To support the development and implementation of this project, we are seeking an Analyst who can bring experience working with energy communities (coal and natural gas), an understanding of the opportunities and limitations they face in economic and energy transition, and a passion for supporting them to create the frameworks that will help realize their aspirations for the future.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

This role will assist in building out programs focused on understanding and addressing the needs and aspirations of communities that have been historically reliant on fossil fuels. This may include:

    • Conducting outreach and helping to organize and facilitate roundtable discussions between government leaders, private sector companies, and other key stakeholders
    • Assisting in research and analysis of community and county-level assets and infrastructure around energy transition and new economic opportunities.
    • Working with partners to understand and map out community expectations and aspirations on these areas to ensure that investments and government programs are aligned with what the communities need and want for themselves.
    • Documenting and presenting the information and experiences through various channels.
    • Assisting in collaborative efforts between investors and business leaders to showcase the strengths of these communities.
    • Assessing opportunities and pathways forward for various communities.

    Requirements

Ideal candidates will be passionate about bridging the gap between community aspirations and actionable strategies, helping bring innovative solutions to the forefront while fostering collaboration. To excel in this role, candidates should be able to think strategically about program development and implementation, engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities proactively.

    Other qualifications include:

    • 2-3 years of technical work experience around climate change, energy transition, coal and natural gas communities, or related fields in the US.
    • Master’s degree in environmental policy, public policy or related fields or equivalent work experience is preferred.
    • Demonstrable understanding of how to work with communities and local governments on economic development.
