Managing Director - International Nonprofit Institute

The Botstiber Institute for Wildlife Fertility Control (BIWFC) based out of Media, Pennsylvania is seeking an accomplished organizational leader and manager who combines strategic thinking with effective execution. Candidates may come from nonprofit management, foundations, professional associations, academic or research institutions, government, public policy, international organizations, or other mission-driven organizations.

A background in wildlife biology, wildlife management, or fertility control is not required. The successful candidate should be intellectually curious and comfortable working in a science-informed environment while understanding that their primary responsibility is to lead and grow the organization, bring together expertise, facilitate collaboration, and translate strategy into action.

BIWFC is an international nonprofit institute working at the intersection of wildlife management, science, and public policy. Through education, convening, and engagement with practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders, BIWFC advances the responsible use of fertility control as a wildlife management tool.

BIWFC serves as a trusted resource for impartial and evidence-based expertise, advancing the understanding and appropriate implementation of wildlife fertility control as part of an integrated approach to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts worldwide. Working with researchers, practitioners, policymakers, wildlife professionals, institutions, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders in the United States, Europe, and internationally, BIWFC promotes knowledge exchange, collaboration, and engagement across the field and related disciplines.

The Opportunity

BIWFC is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as Managing Director. Reporting to the Administrator and Deputy Administrator of the Dietrich W. Botstiber Foundation, the Managing Director will have broad responsibility for the leadership, administration, strategic development, and continued growth of BIWFC, including its people, programs, partnerships, operations, and international presence.

The Managing Director does not need to be a wildlife scientist or subject-matter expert in wildlife fertility control. BIWFC seeks a strong organizational leader with strategic vision, administrative and operational expertise, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, superior communications skills, and the ability to work effectively with scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and other experts. The role is to lead the organization, bring together expertise and diverse perspectives, and translate BIWFC's mission and strategy into effective action.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Strategy & Sustainable Growth

• Lead the development and implementation of BIWFC's organizational strategy in partnership with Botstiber Foundation leadership.
• Assess programs, partnerships, resources, and opportunities and establish priorities for continued development and sustainable growth.
• Develop actionable strategies to expand BIWFC's global reach, visibility, partnerships, programs, and institutional impact.
• Represent BIWFC at national and international conferences, meetings, workshops, and professional events and promote knowledge exchange across countries, disciplines, as well as professional and non-professional communities.

People & Organizational Leadership

• Lead and support staff in the United States and Europe and oversee contractors, consultants, vendors, and service providers.
• Establish clear priorities, responsibilities, and expectations while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and professional organizational culture.

Programs, Education & Knowledge Exchange

• Ensure programs advance BIWFC's mission and strategic objectives and identify opportunities for new initiatives based on emerging needs and developments in the field.
• Establish appropriate measures for evaluating program effectiveness, reach, and outcomes.

Scientific Engagement & Institutional Stewardship

• Work effectively with scientists, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and other subject-matter experts while maintaining the Managing Director's role as BIWFC's organizational leader.
• Convene differing scientific, professional, policy, and management perspectives and facilitate productive dialogue and collaboration.
• Ensure scientific and technical expertise is appropriately incorporated into programs, resources, partnerships, and communications while maintaining institutional neutrality.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of progressively responsible leadership or management experience in nonprofit, association, foundation, academic, government, international, or other mission-driven organizations.
• Demonstrated experience managing programs, staff, budgets, operations, partnerships, and organizational resources.
• Demonstrated ability to develop organizational strategy and move initiatives from planning through implementation and measurable results.
• Experience contributing to organizational growth, development, expansion, or transformation.
• Strong staff-management, organizational, project-management, communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and highly knowledgeable experts with differing perspectives.
• Experience developing partnerships across organizations, sectors, disciplines, or geographic regions.
• Experience working internationally or across countries and cultures is strongly desirable.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Compensation & Position Details

• Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Location: Media, Pennsylvania; full-time, in-person, with occasional domestic and international travel required.
• Reports to: Administrator and Deputy Administrator, Dietrich W. Botstiber Foundation.
