    Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action seeks a state organizer to help build a spiritually rooted, multigenerational, multi-racial Jewish climate movement in New York.

    Grassroots leadership is the engine that drives our strategic campaign work to confront the climate crisis. This role will organize, train, and support Dayenu activists and leaders in New York, developing individuals as organizers and mobilizing and engaging them in impactful advocacy and action.

    This is an exciting opportunity to grow and mobilize Dayenu’s organizing network, partner with climate, environmental justice, Jewish, and multifaith organizations, take collective action to advance systemic climate solutions, and join a dynamic organization that is mobilizing the American Jewish community to confront the climate crisis with spiritual audacity and bold political action.

    • Location: This is a remote position, but residency in New York state and/or within 1 hour of metro NYC is required, with some in-state travel
    • Position Type: Full-time

    Responsibilities:

    • Grow our grassroots presence in New York – recruiting new leaders, supporting their organizing structures, and engaging people in our campaign and movement-building work.
    • Develop Dayenu volunteers into strategic leaders by maintaining regular contact both in person and virtually to build strong relationships, and provide trainings, political education, coaching, feedback, resources, and support.
    • Lead New York Leaders & Volunteers calls and meetings. This includes recruiting participants, securing attendance, setting agendas, running breakouts, and managing communications with the broader NY leader community.
    • Build a multi-generational movement, with focused work to engage young adults and Jews of Color in our organizing.
    • Support broader national work, including training, recruitment, and other programmatic efforts.
    • Work collaboratively with staff across Dayenu’s campaigns, organizing, communications, and spiritual adaptation departments building organizational cohesion and advancing shared strategic objectives.
    • Strategically communicate through photos and videos to support local organizing efforts, amplify campaign moments, and build Dayenu’s public reach.
    • Engage key allies, partners, and other external stakeholders within Jewish, multi-faith, and secular organizations and movements, including frontline communities and activists in the climate justice and broader progressive movements in New York.
    • Represent Dayenu in state and local coalitions to explore collaboration and coordinate advocacy initiatives and campaign activities.
    • Present, speak, and share Dayenu’s vision and work to a variety of audiences.

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated ability to develop leaders and organizers through training, delegation, feedback, and active management.
    • Strong ability to make and implement organizing plans, including crafting recruitment plans, delegating, and teaching leadership skills.
    • Ability to design and manage a campaign, including working with others to establish goals, strategy, tactics, and timeline, and supporting peers and leaders in executing that work.
    • Experience organizing people through the ladder of engagement – including building a list, outreach through calls, emails, texts, and in-person visits, 1:1s, making asks, and supporting them in growth.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering strategic and high quality work with integrity and good judgment.
    • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with partner organizations.
    • Passionate about Dayenu’s mission and committed to growing a Jewish climate movement.
    • Ability to communicate proactively, clearly, and in a compelling way with colleagues, partners, and the activists and communities we’re organizing.
    • A track record of working effectively with people across lines of difference and a demonstrated commitment to anti-racist practice.
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends; ability to travel regularly to conduct site visits, lead in-person trainings, and attend conferences and retreats.
    • Experience working in/with the Jewish community strongly preferred.
    • Experience working to address the climate crisis, including climate and environmental justice movements, preferred.
    • Familiarity with digital organizing, planning, and communications tools, such as EveryAction and Airtable, preferred.
