    Founded in 1976, South Arts is a nonprofit regional arts organization dedicated to advancing Southern vitality through the arts. We believe creativity is a powerful force for connection, cultural celebration, and meaningful change – and we’re committed to investing in it.

    In partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the state arts agencies of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, we support artists and organizations across the South through a robust portfolio of grants, fellowships, and programs. From rural communities to major cities, we celebrate the South’s rich artistic legacy—from jazz and Appalachian traditions to today’s most groundbreaking creators.

    We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager to play a vital role in enhancing the visibility, engagement, and impact of South Arts. The ideal candidate is a creative, strategic communicator who thrives on storytelling, digital engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. A strong passion for the arts and community engagement is essential. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about helping us elevate our brand, amplify our mission, and grow our impact across the South.

    As Marketing and Communications Manager, you’ll work closely with program, advancement, and leadership teams, with support from external partners, to create and implement marketing, branding, and communication strategies that elevate our work and connect with audiences regionally and nationally.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications plan
    • Creating compelling content for social media, website, email, and print
    • Managing brand identity across all platforms and materials
    • Supporting media relations, public outreach, and press opportunities
    • Collaborating across departments to align messaging and promote events, programs, and fundraising campaigns
    • Tracking and analyzing engagement, content performance and audience insights
    • Managing marketing operations, external partners, timelines, and content calendars

    About You

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a marketing, communications or digital content creation role
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing and growing brand presence on social media platforms
    • Proficiency with social media platforms, website CMS, digital marketing tools, and graphic design tools
    • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong visual eye
    • Ability to combine creativity and analytical thinking with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
    • Proven ability to seek out and craft stories that resonate with audiences
    • Hands-on experience in blogging, storytelling, PR, and multimedia content creation including video and podcast production
    • Strong organizational skills, with experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
    • Creative, strategic thinker with a passion for social impact
    • Quick to learn new environments, tools, and software
    • Proficient in MS Office 365, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Related experience within the nonprofit or arts sector
    • Familiarity with or enthusiasm for the arts and community engagement
    • Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience
    • Experience with donor communications and nonprofit fundraising campaigns
    • Experience with tools such as website CMS, email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud), Google Analytics, and social media schedulers
    • Experience with nonprofit CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce
    • Experience managing outsourced service providers or marketing agency experience

    Work Environment & Schedule

    • Hybrid role; minimum of 3 on-site days per month in our Atlanta office
    • Occasional evening/weekend hours for events or projects
    • Must have a dedicated and secure remote workspace
    • Occasional travel within the region

    We offer a competitive total compensation package designed to support the well-being and growth of our team. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000, based on experience.
