    Position Summary:

    Bonnie Brae seeks a seasoned Grants Consultant to help strengthen and expand our institutional funding strategy during a key growth phase. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and working with the Development team, the consultant will lead the grant management process from prospecting to submission and compliance – ensuring high-quality proposals aligned with Bonnie Brae’s mission, programming, and strategic priorities.

    This role will manage the full grant lifecycle, identify new funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and oversee post-award reporting and compliance. This role will work in tandem with the Development Team and cross-departments, leveraging team connections to drive grant funding success. The ideal candidate has experience in nonprofit grant writing and fundraising strategy, including familiarity with federal and state funding streams and collaborative team-based development environments.

    Reports to: Chief Development Officer

    Location: Remote (New Jersey based candidates preferred; hybrid flexibility available)

    Position Type: Immediate hire; Monday to Friday, between 9am-5pm

    Compensation: Commensurate with experience

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Grant Development and Management

    • Lead proactive research to identify local, state, federal, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
    • Write high-quality, compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, and supporting documents.
    • Customize proposals for general operating, programmatic, capacity-building, and event-based funding.
    • Maintain grant calendar and ensure timely submission of all applications, renewals, and reporting.
    • Oversee post-award compliance, including tracking deliverables, coordinating reporting with finance and program teams, and managing renewal timelines.
    • Develop internal grant management systems, including templates, checklists, and workflows for efficient collaboration and compliance.
    • Track outcomes, impact data, and stories to strengthen proposals and reports

    Internal Collaboration & Team Engagement

    • Partner with the Development Team to develop tailored proposals related to key fundraising events and campaigns.
    • Maintain up to date records and collaborate with the Development and Communications Coordinator (DCC) to ensure all grant information is tracked accurately in Raiser’s Edge and aligned with donor records.
    • Engage with program, finance, quality assurance and impact, and leadership teams to gather program data, budgets, and impact stories for grant development and reporting.
    • Provide recommendations to the CDO for institutional funder cultivation and stewardship strategies.
    • Serve as a thought partner in developing long-term institutional goals and tracking fundraising KPIs.

    Funder Stewardship & Relationship Management

    • Serve as a liaison with funders as needed – supporting the CDO in maintaining strong funder relationships.
    • Support the follow-up communication, grant-related inquiries, and funder engagement touchpoints.
    • Assist in preparing briefings and materials for funder meetings or site visits.

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Administration or related field.
    • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in grant writing, funding research and institutional giving strategy.
    • Proven success securing funding from government sources (state or federal), as well as private foundations and corporations.
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational, project management, and time management skills.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor tone and language for diverse audiences.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in Raiser’s Edge preferred.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit financials, budgeting, and outcome tracking.
    • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate across departments.
