Adult ESL Instructor

Job Description: English as a Second Language Instructor. Successful candidates will be able and willing to implement a task-based approach that helps prepare students to use English effectively in their daily lives.

Duration: 11 weeks per cycle, 3 cycles per year

Instructional Hours: In-person from 6-8 PM on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays

Location: Philadelphia PA

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required. ESL certification or Master's degree preferred.
• Experience teaching ESL required. Knowledge of adult education theory and practice preferred.
• Basic computer literacy required. Knowledge of Google Suite preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the program to ensure that students meet and exceed learning targets.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
• Differentiate and scaffold instruction to assist every student in developing his/her reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the target language.
• Generate and administer assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of student attendance, student progress and evidence of growth.
• Provide a supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and agency.

Salary: $30/hr (4 hours of instruction + 1 hour of paid prep time per week)

Knowledge of Spanish desirable but not required.
