    Position Summary:

    The Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Staff Associate I (SAI) for the Rakai Orphans in Communities (ROC) project. The SAI will work closely with the PI and co-investigators to oversee research project operations, ensure timely execution of study activities, and implement the scientific vision and direction of the project. The SAI will assist the PI with grant management, including communication, and be responsible for overall project coordination. This is a grant funded position.

    Duties:

    • Managing day-to-day research project operations, timelines and deliverables; Planning and facilitating project meetings; Liaising between consultants and collaborating partners at RHSP, CUNY, and Johns Hopkins; Budget management.
    • Manuscript and report writing, conducting literature reviews, development of research papers; Preparation of presentations, abstracts, and conference materials to share research findings; Preparing and managing IRB submissions and regulatory documentation. Work closely with MPH student research assistants on the project.
    • Conducting qualitative and quantitative data analyses.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Requires bachelor’s degree in health related field.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
    • Proficient in STATA or R.
    • Proficient in use of software for qualitative data such as Dedoose.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least one year of experience preferred.
    • Master’s degree in public health preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in a research or academic setting.
    • Training in population health, epidemiology, or related fields.
    • Experience contributing to research publications or presentations.
    • Familiarity with IRB processes.
    • Experience working with multi-institutional research teams.
