    Together Colorado has a strong learning culture, including weekly staff development, supervision, coaching opportunities and national trainings with Faith in Action. We place a high priority on personal learning, relationship building and creating a respectful multi-racial, multi-faith and multilingual organization.

    Together Colorado is seeking a Bilingual Community Organizer Fellow. This is a six month temporary position with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. An organizer fellow can expect frequent night meetings, some weekend work, and occasional travel.

    A Bilingual Fellow will train and develop community leaders in congregations and other institutions to build power toward transforming systems and advancing Together Colorado’s human dignity agenda in our local communities and the state of Colorado.

    A candidate who is well suited for this role has the following characteristics:

    • Able to act with integrity and has a strong work ethic, “grit,” and willingness to persevere until you succeed.
    • A self-starter who can independently set goals and use them to guide daily actions.
    • A good listener and capable of establishing rapport with people from different backgrounds.
    • A quick learner and eager to develop their leadership and to help others to do the same.
    • Open to evaluation and direction from their supervisors and peers.
    • Unafraid of being pushed and challenged by their peers and supervisor to more deeply reflect on and address personal barriers to leadership development.
    • Can navigate different cultural settings to relate to people across race, class, geography, age, and religion.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Organize in congregations and mobile home parks - conduct one-on-one relational meetings every week with congregants and community members
    • Train and develop community leaders from member institutions to act in the public arena
    • Work with faith and community leaders to support social justice in their institutions
    • Participate fully in Together Colorado’s civic engagement work
    • Participate fully in building Together Colorado’s anti-racism work
    • Help to create and use a racial justice lens for policy and organizing work
    • Complete other community organizing assignments as time permits

    Qualifications:

    • Fluency in English and Spanish
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • Strong public speaking, writing and analytical skills
    • Ability to use a range of computer programs and smartphone apps, including Microsoft Office, Internet applications, and other common software
    • Strong interpersonal and relational skills and interest in people
    • Discipline and ability to work effectively in a highly unstructured environment
    • Desire to learn and openness to challenge
    • Use of a car during working hours
    • Ability to work evenings and some weekend hours

    • Mileage: IRS allowable
    • Vacation: Three weeks (15 days) during each calendar year prorated from start date
    • Sick leave: 12 days during each calendar year prorated from start date
    • Medical: Health insurance through employer policy
      • employee - 100% of premiums are paid by Together Colorado
      • family - 80% of premiums are paid by Together Colorado
    • Dental insurance is offered through employer policy; employee pays 100% of premium, deducted from payroll monthly
    • Retirement: 5% of salary contributed by employer to fully vested 401K, starting in seventh month with Together Colorado
