The Youth & Family Program Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of mental health initiatives for children, youth, and families in vulnerable communities. This role leads youth engagement and family-focused programming, manages key partnerships, and ensures high-quality, culturally responsive programming that promotes mental wellness and suicide prevention.
This is a remote role based in metro-Atlanta and requires local travel for programs, events, and partner meetings, including some evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design & Management
- Develop, refine, and maintain curricula, processes, and tools for youth and family programs.
- Plan and execute youth and family initiatives such as the Youth Mental Wellness COPE Clinic and Parent Café.
- Lead the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and Trailblazers Advocacy Program, fostering youth leadership, advocacy, and peer engagement.
- Develop resources and materials to support program delivery and participant engagement.
Partnerships & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain formal partnerships with youth-serving organizations, parent groups, schools, afterschool programs, local governments, and professional organizations.
- Coordinate and manage contractors, professional partners, and volunteers involved in program delivery and events.
- Plan and facilitate community advocacy events and community conversations to engage families and elevate mental health awareness.
Evaluation & Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Collect and synthesize participant and partner feedback to inform continuous improvement.
- Prepare timely reports, presentations, and updates for leadership, funders, and other stakeholders.
Fundraising & Communications Support
- Support fundraising efforts by providing program data, impact stories, and content for grant proposals and reports.
- Collaborate on digital marketing and outreach related to youth and family programming.
Qualifications & Skills
- Working knowledge of mental health, suicide prevention, and youth development.
- 1–2 years of program management or coordination experience (nonprofit setting preferred).
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
- Working knowledge of digital marketing and basic graphic design (e.g., Canva).
- Comfort with data collection, basic data analysis, and report preparation.
- Ability to develop and tailor content for diverse audiences (youth, parents/caregivers, partners).
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively toward shared goals.
- Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Strong judgment, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to anticipate needs and take initiative.
- Energetic, proactive, and mission-driven, with a passion for youth, families, and mental health equity.
Preferred (not required):
- Master’s degree in psychology, public health, social work, education, or related field.
- Experience facilitating groups with youth and/or parents.
- Training or certification in Mental Health First Aid, suicide prevention, or related areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, or a relevant field; Master’s preferred.
- Residence in the metro-Atlanta area.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; regular local travel required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint).
- Experience with Canva or a similar graphic design tool.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for programs and events.
- Successful completion of background and reference checks (required to work with youth).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $49,000–$54,000, commensurate with experience.
